"Had my grandfathers watch dial repaired by them overall great customer service and got my watch done before Christmas but a certain problem with post out of his control made it so that it was collected by me early January. I can't blame him for that and was very apologetic. Edit:Bought a vintage watch recently and He offered to polish the watch crystal free of charge after I posted it on Facebook. Can't thank Dennis enough"
"Dennis did a beautiful job restoring my father’s Longines, which has great sentimental value. I met him on the strength of a recommendation from a watch collector and couldn't be happier. Highly recommended."
"I read a number of negative reviews on Balwyn Jewellers and couldn't believe the comments. We have been a customer of Dennis for a long time. He remodelled my wife's rings superbly! I've had watches repaired, superbly! And now, our recently engaged daughter is taking her antique opal engagement ring left to her from my great grandmother for resizing and a clean! I know she will be looked after! Superbly! Be careful of the keyboard warriors and see for yourself!"
"Stay away from this place! Dennis was perfectly charming until he got my job, then he was arrogant and rude. He apparently completely refurbished my Dads watch and tried to give it back to me without the band. He insisted I gave him just the watch face on its own. He kept insisting saying he never got anything wrong. So I demanded to see the surveillance video of me dropping off the watch. He refused. Eventually he reluctantly put on a new watch band and after paying $550 for the repairs... he refused to give me an itemised receipt of the works completed on my watch and written guarantee. Needless to say my watch is now loosing time and because it’s ‘out of 12 warranty’ he wants me to pay another $80 to service it! I explained I barely used the watch the entire year in 2020 due to Covid (as a health care worker we didn’t wear any jewellery due to infection control) Strictly speaking he is correct, but in truth I only actually used it for 9 months. He said ‘it’s an 70 year old watch, what do you expect’. It’s NOT 70 years old, and if he did in fact completely refurb it as he had said, I’d expect it to run perfectly for a few years at least. I had a gut feeling after I’d picked up the watch he hadn’t done a proper job. Turns out I was right! Which honest jeweller doesn’t give his customers an itemised receipt of works performed. He outright refused. I’m betting when I take my watch elsewhere to be serviced it hasn’t been rebuilt as he told me it had. He will negate all my claims, no doubt. But I strongly suggest you take your business elsewhere. Ps: he eventually found my original watch band. He had put it in someone else’s job bag. He had me in tears over it because he was so rude and argumentative... and not even an apology."
"Balwyn Jewellers (Dennis) performed a superb service on my vintage dive watch (it's mechanical), and in a turnaround of a week, unbelievable! I was fortunate that Balwyn Jewellers has a large stockpile of parts, which benefited me greatly when it came to my 1970's Caravelle Driver, quite a niche watch. Also, that they had the experience to service a rare watch like this. I wanted to go out of my way to write this because I appreciate the service I was provided, and for context, I'm a watch collector. I respect that others here may have had separate experiences based on their expectation of watches, a general assumption that watches are simple items to maintain, but that is simply untrue. Watches can be simple and they can be complex, it depends on the watch, and it's a quality watchmaker like Balwyn Jewellers (Dennis) who will be able to properly assess and bring your timepiece back up to speed (or time?). Would definitely recommend."
