"I had an incredibly unpleasant experience yesterday. My daughter, who has a history of intussusception, was suffering from fever and abdominal pain. The triage nurse only used a stethoscope to assess her condition and categorized her as level 4, which meant a 5-hour waiting period. The nurse checked her heart rate and oxygen levels manually but failed to check her fever. After an hour, I insisted that the nurse check my daughter's temperature and vitals. Initially, she assured me that everything was normal, but upon my insistence, she rechecked and found a temperature of 40.3. They then administered Panadol to help alleviate the fever. We were eventually taken into the emergency area, where the doctor saw my daughter briefly, but then we had to endure an additional 9 hours sitting on chairs without being provided a bed. Due to this unpleasant experience, I have decided not to return to Westmead in the future."
"Very disappointed with the care we got from this hospital. My four year old was vomiting blood and had very severe flu symptoms alongside being very dehydrated. I understand there are many kids that need to be seen but 5 hours in we decided to leave as my daughter was getting more sick being there hearing all the crying and screaming. She needed rest and we will have to take her to the GP. Do not recommend unless absolutely necessary!"
"Currently been waiting for 5 hours for a doctor to look at xrays for a suspected fractured ankle. The fracture will be healed before a doctor even sees my child. Staff telling patients its over a 6 hour wait and to go home and come back tomorrow. Absolute joke"
"Staff/Triage nurse quickly responded as soon as we are in.The lady was empathetic and kind. She told the process and was good with the kids. She offered them icepop/juice. Of course the wait times are long..but the staff we met are friendly. I wish the hospital management does something and fixes this long wait times."
"Came here with my 2year old at 4am. The facility was average but the staff were lovely. They were very attentive and made us feel comfortable. They took time assessing my son. We stayed in emergency for over 8hrs And the whole time we had a great experience."
