"Dr Hale has been our son's Paediatrician since birth now aged 9 years old. Dr Hale has been compassionate and caring and always listened to our concerns. Dr Hale has helped us navigate complex and challenging health issues. Dr Hale relates well to our son and has been kind towards him. I am very appreciative of the high level of care our son has received."
"Dr Hale was assigned to us at the Mater hospital. She was cold and dismissive, said my son has tongue tie which he doesn’t. Very unprofessional, would not recommend"
"I'm struggling to give her even the bare minimum of 1 star after her appalling conduct at The Mater when we had the misfortune of having her assigned after I gave birth. Like a few others sharing their experience here, Dr Kate Hale's bedside manner was dismissive, rude, patronising and unbecoming of a medical professional. She held my newborn on one hand, lifted her up to eye level and poked around her bottom. Literally with one finger, again and again. My baby was screaming at the discomfort and extended amount of time this examination took and yet this didn't seem to trigger any empathy within Kate Hale (I refrain from adding the 'Dr' prefix). I ended up stepping in to ask her to put her down and received once again the look of disgust she seems well-known for. At no point did she check my baby's eyes, ears or other aspects of her health. She then proceeded to turn her attention to me and criticised every aspect of my parenting, including breast feeding. On the early days after giving birth, regardless of however many children a Mother has had, the imperative from a medical professional needs to be basic courtesy to the parents and care for the baby. We felt like specimens being poked and laughed at, and after she left, I cried. Our discharge took a fairly extended amount of time which under the circumstances of Kate Hale's treatment of us and our baby, added to the anxiety we felt. When we got home, it got worse. We were sent an invoice for 2x assessments when we'd only had one! Her staff were adamant we had to pay both fees. Upon requesting and receiving a copy of her notes which consisted of one page with one date and time at the top and barely any notes, we referred the matter through the complaints process at Fair Trading and also contacted the Minister. It didn't take long for the duplicate charge to be waived. The only good outcome from all of this is Fair Trading Complaints Management Database now has Dr Kate Hale on file."
"When our daughter was born after a complicated birth Dr Kate Hale was the only one who took our anxiety seriously. Thanks to her our daughter was transferred to neonatal intensive care unit where we finally got the heads up on the potential issues four our daughter in the future. Thanks to that we got into therapy early on. That's the type of paediatrician you want !"
"I love Dr Hale - she's exactly what I was hoping for in a Paedeatritian, very nurturing and caring and a straight shooter whenever there's bad news - I always look forward to our appointments! She's very caring towards my twins, and treats them so kindly when dealing with them - she talks to them, and my boys adore her! She genuinely cares about their progress and wellbeing, as well as my progress and wellbeing as a new mum - which has been so nice to have that support. Dr Hale always spends plenty of time with us, whereas I've found other doctors can be dismissive, so even if you need to wait for her (which I haven't fpund often) she is worth the wait. I personally chose Dr Hale and I don't regret my choice for a second! My friends who also went to Dr Hale had similar experiences to me, saying they also found her very good and very caring. I'd highly recommend Dr Hale - she's a wonderful doctor."
