About the Business
Welcome to Truganina Park, a captivating establishment situated in Altona Meadows, Australia. This park is not your ordinary recreational space; it is a point of interest and a tourist attraction that offers some of the most breathtaking views in the region.
One of the highlights of Truganina Park is the famous 100 Steps to Federation. These stone stairs, constructed from recycled basalt rock, were once part of a clean-fill tip. As you ascend these steps, you will reach the highest land point between Melbourne and the You Yangs mountain ranges. From this vantage point, you can indulge in panoramic vistas of Melbourne City, Port Phillip Bay, and the adjacent Cheetham Wetlands on a clear day. At the top of the stairs, you will be greeted by the mesmerizing sculpture 'Time Beacon' created by the talented artist Cameron Robbins.
Truganina Park offers an array of amenities and activities for visitors to enjoy. Explore the shared bike and walking trails that wind through the parklands, perfect for a leisurely stroll or an invigorating bike ride. Take advantage of the sheltered barbecue areas, providing a delightful setting for a picnic with friends and family. Dog owners can also bring their furry companions for an on-lead walk, ensuring everyone can partake in the park's beauty. The park boasts vast open spaces and unique views that will leave you in awe.
If nature calls, fret not, as toilets are conveniently located close to Queen Street. Simply follow the road from the car park to find the facilities. Please note that BBQs and sheltered seating areas are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and bookings are not possible.
Truganina Coastal Parklands seamlessly connect with the Coastal Bay Trail, accessible via a crossing at Laverton Creek. For a comprehensive overview of the park, take a look at our Truganina Park brochure, which includes a detailed map of the reserve. If you prefer a physical copy, you can obtain one from the Williamstown Visitor Information Centre or the Altona Library.
Cycling enthusiasts will be delighted to know that Truganina Park can be reached via the Hobsons Bay Coastal Trail, just across the Laverton Creek Footbridge. Embark on a scenic journey and immerse yourself in the beauty of the surrounding area.

Reviews
"Nice place for a run, a walk, or a picnic. Great view up at the 100 steps."
"Nice place to visit for a walk near Truganina residents. Had a great time with my friends."
"Absolutely beautiful spot on sunset and an easy walk to get to top as well as an amazing view too. Highly recommend"
"The 100 Steps of Federation with beautiful 360 degree views, including, Portarlington, The You Yangs, Macedon Ranges , incredible Melbourne city views, Port Phillip Bay and The Dandenong Ranges to name a few. The path , Bay Trail West, from here takes you all the way to Williamstown passing through Jaw Bone Reserve and Altona Beach and Pier, and in the other direction into Point Cook. There are plenty of things to do with a vast area for bird watching or enjoying a pleasant walk in the forever changing landscape. A perfect place for nature lovers. Bike riding is very popular with some smaller tracks off the main path. A good place to walk your dog. Lovely place for a BBQ with undercover. The closest toilet is approximately 800m away. Truganina Park comes highly recommended."
"There are a number of parks in this area but I’m talking today about Truganina Park. As you enter there is a netball / basketball park , heaps and heaps of parking, entrance to Cheetham Park, the skate park and more. Great views to the bay if you walk up the small mound. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Great for riding bikes or walking. Good place for picnics with the tables and shelter with toilets nearby but it can be windy. It can be a little confusing with parks blending with other reserves and facilities so be careful. Watch out for snakes in summer months."
