After gaining valuable experience, she went on to manage Scott Hawaii, where she also started shaping custom boards on the side. This side project, known as Custom X, gained popularity as customers began requesting the brand, and soon evolved into retail stores.

With the support of Dave Dale, Mike "X-Man" Fleming, and Dave Cunniff, production at CUSTOM X soared and the adventure truly began. Over the years, Custom X has been privileged to have some of the industry's most talented shapers and professional athletes pass through its doors. Shapers such as Mike "X-Man" Fleming, Jimmy Linville, Kevin Wood, and Pete Anaya, who currently oversees factory production, honed their skills and perfected their craft with the company. Additionally, team athletes like Fred Booth, Robbie Crawford, Jordan Hetrick, Babby Quinones, JJ Ayala, Brandon Foster, and Dave Hubbard, to name just a few, have built successful bodyboarding careers with Custom X.
