Determined to make a change, he designed and crafted his own gear, which quickly gained popularity among fellow bushwalkers. The demand for his specialist equipment, including rucksacks, tents, and sleeping bags, led to the opening of our first store in Sydney in the early 1930s.

To cater to the growing demand for our products, Paddy Pallin appointed agents in each state and introduced a mail-order service, enabling us to serve bushwalkers and adventurers across the entire Australian market.

In the 1960s, the backpacking travel boom created a new market, and Paddy Pallin responded by opening more stores to meet the increased demand. Our commitment to supplying the highest quality and most advanced products remains unchanged, as we continue to source a wide range of equipment from leading manufacturers around the world.

In the mid-1980s, Paddy Pallin expanded its offerings by introducing a line of Adventure Travel Clothing. This marked the first time that durable, reliable, lightweight, and easy-care specialist clothing was made available to the Australian market. Our evolving product range has consistently set the standard in the industry.
