"Baxter and Black are always so friendly and helpful. They do high quality work and pay a lot of attention to detail. They fixed my bag quickly and so neatly that it looks just like new! Occasionally they have staffing problems so work can sometimes take a while but it's worth it for the extra care they put in - definitely no corner cutting or quick, cheap but dodgy fixes!! They are really the place to come to if you have something a little out of the ordinary or precious to be brought back to life!"
"Nice people and obviously take pride in what they do, but the prices and wait are comical and not competitive. 160 bucks for elastics in RM Williams and lead time of 2 weeks. Go to old mate Roger Shoe Repairs in Redfern and he does them for 60 bucks, perfectly, in 3 days."
"One word describes the staff at Baxter and Black. Exceptional!! You could also say knowledgeable, experienced, friendly, attentive and master craftsmen. I’m happy to say they knew instantly how much work was required to repair the damage to my shoe, and it was money definitely worth spending. The job they did was amazing. You couldn’t see any sign of damage after they worked their magic. The colour matching is the best I’ve ever seen. They completely restored my Marsell shoes after a personal mishap where a jutted section of footpath took a chunk out of them. I am completely satisfied with their work and would highly recommend them as the best cobbler in Sydney."
"Just wanted the say thank you for the amazing job and service from the team at Baxter & Black. They fixed the tear in my canvas bag (would never know it) and replaced a missing stud. Again thank you! I’d highly recommend the team for any of your needed repairs."
"Came here to get a brand new designer belt punched and they ruined it. Asked the front staff if they could do it and they confidently said yes. Initially the staff attempted to measure & punch holes using the handheld puncher. However, when I came home and tried the belt on the apparently the holes were too small and the hook got stuck in the hole. I came back in store the next day to ask for their help pulling out the belt hook & making the holes larger. The same front staff was there and instead of using some sort of lubrication for the hook, they bended my belt in two and pulled it out of the hole. As a result, I had a bad wrinkle and a small rip on that hole. At this point I had given up on letting the staff do anything else on my belt. They tried to assure me that they’re going to bring it in for their leather specialist to inspect and attempt to fix (which they should have done in the first place if they were not confident that they can do it properly). Came in the following day again to see that they have corrected the holes using a machine puncher with the proper measurements this time. However, I inspected some defect in paint as if something hot melted that part on the corner of the belt. When I asked them about this they insisted it had been there from the beginning, which is completely false! The belt is brand NEW, I am 1000% certain there was no such defect before and Celine would never sell a belt with defected paint. Not even a single apology or what would be most appropriate in this case, a complete replacement of my brand new belt. Too tired to argue and very disappointed, will not be coming back to this business. Warning for people coming in to take a proper before pictures of your item if you do actually bring your business here."
