"I am a mother of 2 young boys, and a dual qualified Radiologist specialist. I cannot thank and praise Dr Fiona Mitchell (paediatrician NSW Children Specialists Bondi Junction) for seeing my son urgently last week, and calling me with my non-medical husband, and son Charlie, in her rooms to discuss the findings and medical plan. I was so impressed with her kindness and professionalism. My husband, and son Charlie, were also incredibly impressed at her knowledge, skills and bedside manner. Dr Mitchell had no idea I was another doctor when I booked the appointment, and her level of expertise and kindness was second to none. I am very picky about who I trust my own children with and I can highly recommend Dr Mitchell with absolute confidence to anyone who needs an experienced and kind paediatrician in Sydney's ESUB. "Unfortunately I really don’t have anything positive to say about my experience with NSW Children’s Specialists. I saw Dr Fiona Mitchell on the 18/03 re concerns that I had for my son. Admittedly we were 10-15 min late for our appointment after getting lost. I was under the impression that our appointment would go for 45 min, however after 20 min we were told that our time was up. During this time Dr Fiona Mitchell took a personal call that also took away from our time. Upon paying for the appointment ($400), the receptionist advised me that the person who booked the appointment, had accidentally booked a 30 min appointment instead of the standard 45 min, yet we were charged the full fee. At no time did Dr Mitchell offer to reduce the fee or extend our next appointment to make up for this. Needless to say, I left with a bad taste in my mouth. A few days after the appointment, I emailed NSW Children’s Specialists, to request a copy of the letter they had sent my sons GP, outlining Dr Mitchell’s findings. I was told that Dr Mitchell would ring the day-care to provide advice and strategies, to help my son improve his speech. I requested that the tips & strategies be put into writing and emailed to the day-care. After a week of no reply, I contacted them and was told by the receptionist they hadn’t received my email. After confirming the time and day I’d sent it, she then found the email and told me she’d print it off and leave it on the paediatricians desk. Fast forward to the 19/04 I still hadn’t received any response, I decided to call once more to cancel the next appointment and to follow up on my requests. Again I was told the email would be printed off and left on Dr Mitchell’s desk! Later that day I received a call from Dr Mitchell who asked what exactly it was that I wanted? I explained that I’d emailed her and hadn’t received any response. Dr Mitchell then went on to say that she had done what was required and that she didn’t need to put what was discussed with the teachers into writing, or include me in the letter to the GP. Absolutely ridiculous, considering I am the child’s mother and have paid for this service. I explained that by putting her advice in writing, this would be helpful for the teachers to refer back to (and my family) should we need it. Dr Mitchell spoke over the top of me the entire conversation and advised me to find another paediatrician. This woman is extremely rude and it’s clear she has very little interest in genuinely helping her clients."
