"Had a medical procedure at the end of July and because I was last on the list and I was still sedated in recovery, the nurse told me the surgeon came to review me, but I was still too sleepy. So I never got the chance that evening to speak to the surgeon in person. Then yesterday I went to the medical centre for a follow up appointment, and was checked in by one of the secretaries. I went to sit down and after the other secretary got off the phone she spoke to me across the room in a loud condescending voice, whilst another patient was in the waiting room, stating she was trying to arrange a follow up appointment via phone consultation. I tried to explain that I attempted calling numerous times and the conversation went back and forth for a bit aloud across the room. She kept saying it goes through to a call centre, I understand that, but she didn’t give me a chance to tell her that I was waiting on the line for more than 5mins each time so I gave up. All I said was that no one answered and that’s why she kept repeating it goes through to a call centre. (I know it goes through to a call centre!). She asked me about the automated text messages if I replied yes, to the first one, cause they sent two. I said I replied yes to the second one because I wanted to be seen in person. I wanted to explain again that I tried calling after the first text message, but she cut me off. I don’t think she understands that I have been working during their business hours and when I had a chance on break I attempted to call, but I couldn’t wait on the line, I had to go back to work. Then by the time I get home or leave for work it is not within their business hours. I also tried calling twice yesterday morning prior to my appointment during business hours, still same thing no one answered even after 3-5minutes. I just figured maybe there was an issue with the call centre. The point of this review, was to state that it was very unprofessional of the secretary to talk to me across the room in front of another patient, instead of coming up to me (within covid distance) and explaining the situation or asking me politely to come to the desk. It was un-confidential and just plain rude that she didn’t think it could offend someone."
