Additionally, Manly Dam holds significant historical importance, as it hosts Remembrance Day and Anzac Day ceremonies at the Cenotaph in Section One. These solemn occasions pay tribute to the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country.
When visiting Manly Dam, it's important to note that dogs are not allowed in the picnic areas, internal roads, carparks, or the water at any time. However, during notified fox baiting periods, dogs on a leash are permitted on the bushland tracks accessible through various external entry points.

"An interesting spot but please note this water is not for swimming! 1 minute walk from the road, couple of slippery spots on path down, great to sit and relax for a while, good photo opportunities and loads of wildlife."
"Pretty spot just outside Manly Dam gates in King St.It is,said ladies bathed naked here in the depression years, it is a steep dirt track down to pool"
"Hidden gem near Manly. Lot of water after rain and nice waterfall."
"The Mermaid Pool is located on Manly Creek just near Manly Dam. It's said that the local Aboriginal people believed the creator spirit lived here and so they wouldn't swim in the pool. It was explored in the late 18th Century by Captain Arthur Philip of First Fleet fame and it wasn't until more than a century later that it was given the name 'Mermaid Pool' because during the depression, girls from a nearby shanty town would go skinny dipping here in the evenings. Local people have done a tremendous job clearing and restoring the Mermaid Pool in recent times."
"One of the hidden beauty in Manly Vale. A short walk from Manly dam. Water level in the Mermaid pool will increase when water is released from the dam and that is when it is more beautiful."
