About the Business
Welcome to HammondCare Greenwich Hospital, located at 97-115 River Road in Greenwich, Australia. As an establishment dedicated to health and wellness, we aim to guide you on your care journey and simplify the process of finding the right type of care for your needs.
At HammondCare Greenwich Hospital, we offer a range of services to residents within the lower north shore of Sydney. Our public hospital provides inpatient, outpatient, and community palliative care services. We specialize in rehabilitation, both inpatient and outpatient, short-term restorative care, pain management, palliative care for both inpatients and the community, and older people's mental health services.
When it comes to your care, we prioritize high-quality, safe, and relationship-based services. Our hospitals are fully accredited by the Australian Council on Health Care Standards (ACHS) under the National Safety & Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards. We continuously monitor patient safety and quality of care through reviews, audits, surveys, and feedback from consumers, carers, and staff. Our Consumer Advisory Council also contributes by reviewing patient safety data and providing regular comments.
Our palliative care services are designed to make patients with life-limiting illnesses as comfortable as possible while expertly managing symptoms. We provide support that addresses physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs for both the patient and their family or carers. Additionally, our palliative care team extends their services to patients and families living at home on Sydney's North Shore and Northern Beaches.
Greenwich Rehabilitation Services is another essential aspect of our institution, offering personalized treatment to help individuals adjust and rebuild their lives for greater independence. Our Riverglen Unit provides a secure and modern setting for older people in the acute phase of a mental health disorder. Our team of mental health professionals conducts thorough assessments and prescribes personalized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and their carers.
For individuals seeking short-term restorative care, our program provides tailored therapy in your home or a community setting, such as a local gym. This government-funded program offers up to eight weeks of support to enhance your ability to perform daily tasks and achieve your goals comfortably. Eligibility is based on age and eligibility for Commonwealth-funded aged care services.
To access our services, all patient referrals must come from a General Practitioner, medical specialist, or advanced practice nurse. Referrals must include the referring officer's address, phone number, and provider number. Valid referrals, as outlined in the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS), must be received and dated before treatment, except for medical emergencies and inter-hospital transfers.
We understand that everyone's situation is unique, and we strive to provide personalized support to address your specific needs and goals. HammondCare is committed to improving the quality of life for those in need, and we are excited about the approval of an integrated health campus featuring a subacute hospital on the Greenwich Hospital site. This development will further enhance our ability to fulfill our mission.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, our priority is the health and wellbeing of residents, clients, patients, staff, and volunteers. We have followed the directives and guidelines of the Australian and State governments to ensure a measured and intelligent approach to managing the risks associated with the virus.

Reviews
"Excellent Service, Extremely friendly staff. Helpful, understanding , caring and compassionate towards my father in palliative care and my family. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses who looked after Dad. Highly recommended the place"
"Riverglen unit is a full scale psychiatric ward that restrains patients. They have 2 staff on at night for 20 geriatric psychiatric patients. The unit has the look and feel of a prison. If thats what you expect then I think they are most likely fine. In my case we felt mislead by Royal North Shore about the nature of care they were trying to transfer my mum to. Be very careful before trusting RNS, make sure you inspect any transfer options personally and ask about staff ratios and use of restraints (at least)."
"My mother came here for palliative care for a number of weeks. The care provided by the doctors and nurses during her stay was simply outstanding. The room was great, and the food was of a good standard. This is an excellent hospital, and I would not hesitate recommending it to anyone considering admission."
"The care and devotion of the staff to my aunt at the Greenwich palliative care facility has been incredible. Her stay was extended. Our family has experienced several similar facilities over the years. At all times, the nurses and doctors were responsive to my aunt's needs and extremely sensitive to her pain management and comfort requirements. Communication with our family was exemplary. While medical care was exceptional, the team do not simply take a 'clinical' approach to end of life. My aunt was as comfortable as possible and calm. The Greenwich facility was extremely clean at all times. Finally, thank you for everything!"
"Inpatient palliative care team excellent. Very caring, experienced doctors, nurses, social workers. They were always there offering the best to my dying mum. Unfortunately I can’t say the same for the outpatient palliative care nurses. They didn’t seem to have the time or interest in supporting my mum and family."
