"To Janine, Paul and Team, Thank you for the wonderful construction of our pool and for the professional service. We would highly recommend Sunrise Pools for your pool construction. Best Regards Peter, Julie and family."
"We recently had a new in ground pool installed by Sunrise Pools and I would highly recommend them. Both the admin and construction teams were always very responsive and communicative. The pool looks amazing and is better than we ever could have hoped for!"
"I am a Sydney builder and have used sunrise pools now on three projects. What a great company to deal with from start to finish , they are very professional and all very friendly people . I highly recommend sunrise pools and I really look forward to working with them again , see pics of the recently completed pool at Northbridge ."
"From the time we met with Janine we were impressed with her knowledge and professionalism in building our pool. We had a small 4x3 plunge pool constructed in a very tight access space and we were in almost daily conversations with Janine about the progress. If she could not call us back she would email with all questions answered. As this was the first time we ever built a pool, Sunrise were a great decision. We had some tricky design challenges in regards to glass fencing and an existing deck/patio and we came up with a great solution together. The tradesmen on site were clean, professional and polite and as the pool was being constructed in very warm weather we never had any complaints. The day we filled the pool with water and jumped in the first time we knew we had made the right choice and friends and family still comment how great the pool is and are amazed how we get a pool in the space we had. It is so easy to maintain, looks sparkling every day and really adds to our outdoor space."
"A one generation business that is failing - finished our pool with a judgment at the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal to pay us $8,000. Our leaking pool will be rectified by another builder. In their “heyday” they were probably a great company but today the succession plan is not tenable. This is largely due to the arrogance of Peter and, being a family business, now Janine. The old school way of dealing with customers (ie. that customers don’t matter) does not work in today’s world. Customers are more educated and have access to numerous resources about pools. They want to be taken on the journey and not treated like fools. When we indicated we would go to SPASA to seek assistance, Peter said “I am SPASA”. Peter was the President for many years so they won’t assist you. Issues: • Sunrise don't communicate with their clients • They will agree times to meet - don't arrive or arrive up to 4 hours later. • Once the contract is signed you will rarely see Peter or Janine at your residence. You will be bounced around different staff who don’t always communicate with each other. • You will be allocated a person in the office to manage the process – don’t be fooled, this person doesn’t actually do anything but send invoices. • No quality control procedures - structural diagrams prepared by third party engineers are not adhered to resulting in defects and rework. • Unqualified trades people undertake unsupervised work. Janine and Peter (who had supposedly retired - so we were told so he didn't have to meet with us) do not inspect work undertaken by their staff or contractors. All works are reviewed by pictures so they don't have to talk to their customers. • Unprofessional office staff. A staff member laughed when told the pool could not be filled due to a defect. • Janine refused to take our phone calls or meet with us to resolve issues. • A “Peg Out” Form will be presented to you via email for signing. If you do not have a Law Degree beware that this form could be used against you if the final dimensions are not within your expectations after concreting. Our advice - do not sign this form unless a Sunrise representative walks you through the steel formwork dimensions. We noted caveats on the form to ensure all issues were brought to their attention. These issues were the subject of later defect notices. • Whilst undertaking defect works contractors damaged the filtration pipes, dislodged them, the pool drained significantly into the underground filter room. We were told it was not their issue, they did not do it. • Whilst undertaking defect works a wall in the underground filter room had to be jack hammered to obtain access to conduit. Sunrise refused to fix the jack hammered area around the conduit as we had given them permission to jack hammer. List of Defects: • Sunrise were issued four formal defect notices and numerous emails about the following defects: • Swimjet conduit defect – draining the pool into the underground filter room. • Concrete shell defect – failure to follow structural plans for recess for mechanical pool cover; • Swimjet cavity defect – failure to follow technical plans for cavity size. The swimjet cavity was jack hammered off the back end of the pool and a new cavity constructed (see picture); • Swimjet conduit defect – blocked with concrete during the cavity defect works; and • Skimmer box defect – leaking in the underground filter room. Beware. If you lead busy lives you won't have the time to deal with this unprofessional company. It takes determination and persistence to get what you paid for - (the Contract is a balanced Contract for the builder and consumer but Sunrise will try and bully you into accepting substandard solutions). There are numerous pool builders in Sydney. Don’t waste your time with this company, it is not worth the health and wellbeing of your family. Install cameras and lock your property so they have to tell you what they are doing."
