About the Business
Welcome to St Aloysius Catholic Primary School Cronulla, a place where faith, innovation, and action come together to create a hope-filled future. Located on Giddings Avenue in Cronulla, Australia, our school is a point of interest and an establishment that offers primary education.
At St Aloysius, we are dedicated to providing specialized programs that challenge students to develop future skills through problem-solving and critical thinking. Our goal is to nurture faith, empower minds, and inspire action in our students.
As a Mercy school, we uphold strong Mercy traditions that are based on values such as welcome, compassion, excellence, stewardship, dignity, respect, justice, and service. Our mission is to create positive relationships built on respect and to support the spiritual and educational growth of all our students.
Our highly skilled and passionate teachers work tirelessly to ensure that every student receives a contemporary education and is working at their full potential. We encourage authentic student participation and provide them with a voice on matters that affect them. Our students are active in social justice initiatives and are taught social and emotional skills to enhance their resilience and well-being.
We value strong home-school partnerships and warmly welcome new families to join our close-knit school community. Our school has a rich Catholic heritage, founded by St Mary MacKillop's order of nuns, the Josephites, in 1918. The Sisters of Mercy later took over the school and played an active role in its curriculum. Our historic Thornton Hall, built in the 1930s, still stands today as a testament to our school's history.
Through our commitment to Catherine McAuley's vision, we provide a Catholic education that nurtures the whole person and instills the Mercy values in our students. Our faithfulness to the Mercy charism is evident in our annual celebration of Mercy Market Day and our partnership with the Sisters of Mercy.
Our school logo, which includes the Mercy Cross and the shell, represents our Mercy charism and the local significance of Cronulla, known as Kurranulla, the place of pink seashells. St Aloysius the pilgrim is also represented in the symbol of the shell. The seven teal bands of the shell symbolize our seven Mercy values.
The community of St Aloysius Catholic Primary School Cronulla is built on trust, reflection, and relationships. Our beloved Parish Priest, Rev James McCarthy, guides us in our spiritual journey at St Aloysius Parish. Both the parish and the school are dedicated to St Aloysius Gonzaga, the patron saint of youth, whose feast is celebrated on June 21. Our students embrace the Mercy values and strive to live them each day.
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our school stands and pay our respects to Elders past and present.
Join us at St Aloysius Catholic Primary School Cronulla, where innovative minds and merciful hearts come together to shape a hope-filled future. Watch our School Report Episode 1 on Transition to Kindergarten to learn more about our school.

Reviews
"Went to this school in 1959 when I was 11 years old and my parents were renting in Cronulla. Was only there for 9 months but it was the best school I have ever attended. A wonderful atmosphere of acceptance and teaching. They even let me wear my previous school's uniform to save my mother the cost of buying a new one because we were moving at the end of the year and they made sure I was not made to feel left out because of it. The St Joseph/Mercy nuns were the most understanding and compassionate nuns I had ever encountered, nothing like the Sisters of Charity at the following schools I went to, who were anything but charitable!"
"thanks"
