St Gabriel's School 190 Old Northern Road, Castle Hill, New South Wales 2154
About the Business
Welcome to St Gabriel's School, located in the beautiful suburb of Castle Hill, Australia. As an establishment and point of interest, we are proud to be a school that caters to students with diverse needs and abilities. Our institution is situated at 190 Old Northern Road, providing a convenient and accessible location for families in the area.
At St Gabriel's, we specialize in providing tailored curriculum and a purpose-built environment that enables the most positive outcomes for our students. We cater to students with a mild to moderate intellectual disability, as well as students who are deaf or hard of hearing, blind or have low vision, and have Autism and other disabilities. Our dedicated team of educators and support staff work tirelessly to ensure that each student receives the individualized attention and support they need to thrive.
As a registered not-for-profit institution, we are committed to reinvesting everything back into our school. We rely on the generous support of grants, corporate sponsors, foundations, and individual donations to continue providing exceptional education and support to our students.
Our primary classes have a small student-to-teacher ratio, with 8 students per class and a dedicated teacher and learning support officer. Students participate in a range of subjects, including English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Personal Development and Health, Religion, Art, Music, and Physical Education. We also prioritize the development of social skills and communication through activities such as House Meetings, Pastoral Care, and assemblies.
For our secondary students, classes have a slightly larger size of 10 to 12 students, with a homeroom teacher and additional learning support staff. They attend a range of subjects including English, Maths, Science, Music, Languages, Food Technology, Textiles and Applied Sciences, and Physical Education. In Year 11 and 12, students have the opportunity to choose accredited Vocational Educational Training courses, such as Hospitality. Additionally, we provide work experience training facilities on-site, such as our Mini Woolies retail store.
One of our valued students, Maddie, is a secondary student at St Gabriel's. She has Autism, ADHD, language delays, and an intellectual disability. Maddie is learning invaluable life skills that will open doors to future independence and employment opportunities.
We also take pride in our commitment to community involvement and charity work. Recently, we celebrated Waterford House Day, where students dressed in green and families from Waterford brought in treats for a charity cupcake stall as part of Gabe's Gives Back initiative. We believe in instilling a sense of empathy and compassion in our students, teaching them the importance of giving back to the community.
At St Gabriel's, we understand the importance of inclusivity and ensuring that all students can participate fully in school activities. For example, we recognize that Easter egg hunts are a beloved tradition, so we have adapted the activity to allow children who are blind or have low vision to participate and experience the joy of finding and counting their bounty.
Our school acknowledges the traditional owners of the land, the Bidjigal people, and respectfully recognizes the connections they have to Country and community. We also embrace the uniqueness of each student, just as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have diverse cultures, languages, and lives. Like a connection to Country, we keep returning to Jesus as the common ground that unites us all.
St Gabriel's School is owned and operated by Edmund Rice Education Australia Flexible Schools Ltd, a registered not-for-profit organization. Donations made to our school are tax-deductible, allowing individuals and organizations to contribute to our mission of providing exceptional education and support to our students.

"Highly disappointed."
"I got to sleep at 2am every day and wake up at 3PM, this school does not fit my sleeping habits. Doctor said that if I don’t continue my habits then I will die"
"My daughter is a none verbal child who was diagnosed with autism at the age of two. My daughter started at St Gabriel’s in kindergarten last year in 2017 and since then we have seen such a positive difference in her progress. I have to admit whilst I did give my daughter lots of therapy prior to starting school it was not until she was only a few months into kindergarten that I had surprisingly seen such positive and hopeful development in her. This is without a doubt thanks to St Gabriel’s and their commitment and devotion to my daughter. The dedication of all the staff started from the first phone call I made enquiring about the open day which was filled with so much helpful information through to the interview and processing procedures where it all ended with the lovely head of campus and principal who went way and beyond with information and making sure my daughter would be comfortable with the transition into kindergarten. Then of course you have the very supportive, dedicated and motivated teachers who I personally feel take teaching to a whole different level. All teachers are available to me via phone, email and in person. The teachers worked exceptionally closely with myself and with my daughter’s therapists in order to reach my daughters full potential. St Gabriel’s does not just pride themselves on the children but also the parents and building a community of lifelong friendships and support. St Gabriel’s is a none profit school and I truly believe from the bottom of my heart that all the staff genuinely do what they do out of love, dedication and compassion for all the children at St Gabriel’s. I highly recommend St Gabriel’s and I feel it has been the best choice I made for my daughter, myself and my family."
