Asylum Seekers Centre 43 Bedford Street, Newtown, New South Wales 2042
About the Business
Welcome to the Asylum Seekers Centre, located in Newtown on Bedford Street. As an establishment and point of interest, we are dedicated to providing support and assistance to individuals seeking asylum in the Sydney community.
At the Asylum Seekers Centre, we strive to make a difference in the lives of those seeking asylum by offering ongoing housing and living assistance. Our aim is to ensure that individuals have the necessary support to rebuild their lives and integrate into the community.
One of the ways you can support our cause is through your shopping. Every purchase you make at our center contributes towards our mission of welcoming and supporting people in the Sydney community who are seeking asylum.
In line with National Homelessness Week, representatives from the Asylum Seekers Centre, along with other support organizations, recently traveled to Canberra to advocate for the rights and experiences of those seeking asylum. We believe it is crucial to raise awareness about the everyday hardships and challenges faced by individuals in our community.
On 13th August, Team ASC proudly participated in the City2Surf, donning our signature blue attire. Our staff, supporters, and volunteers came together to show their support and raise funds for our cause.
If you're unsure about the difference between asylum seekers and refugees, we are here to provide clarity. While these terms are often used interchangeably, they have distinct legal definitions. We can provide you with detailed information to enhance your understanding of these important distinctions.
We would also like to take a moment to pay tribute to the remarkable Betty Hounslow AM, who recently passed away. She was an integral part of our organization, and her contributions will always be remembered and cherished.
In the spirit of reconciliation, the Asylum Seekers Centre acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia. We recognize their deep connections to the land, sea, and community. We pay respect to their elders, both past and present, and extend our respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people today.
Join us in our mission to support asylum seekers in the Sydney community. Together, we can make a difference and create a more inclusive and compassionate society.
