About the Business
Welcome to Ryde Secondary College, a co-educational high school located in the heart of Ryde, Australia. We pride ourselves on providing a comprehensive and quality education for students from Years 7 to 12. As a partially selective high school, we offer two academically selective classes in each year from Years 7 to 10, as well as a gifted and talented class selected through school-based assessments. Additionally, we have three classes in our Support Unit to cater to students with special needs.
At Ryde Secondary College, we believe in creating a smooth transition for our Year 7 students. On the first day of school, students will meet their teachers at 8.30 am below the steps in A block, just down from the covered walkway at the main entrance. They will then be escorted to the MPC (Multi-Purpose Centre) and placed in their new roll classes. Orientation activities will take place in the first few days to ensure a comfortable adjustment to high school.
We understand the importance of keeping parents informed about their child's education journey. Therefore, we provide access to the Sentral portal, where parents can follow daily activities and notices about school activities starting from Term 1.
At Ryde Secondary College, we strive to provide a vibrant and engaging learning environment. Our diverse curriculum, rich in both traditional and innovative disciplines, challenges and inspires our students. We offer a wide range of opportunities for students to participate in various activities such as Concert Band, String Ensemble, Choir, Jazz Band, Rock Bands, Drama and Dance programs, Public Speaking and Debating program, SRC (Student Representative Council), Prefect team, and a multitude of competitions and events including Ryde Idol and Annual Fashion Show. We also offer a comprehensive range of sporting activities and competitions for students to develop their talents and interests.
With an enrolment of over 1400 students, Ryde Secondary College celebrates diversity. We have a multicultural student body, with 70% of our students coming from multi-lingual backgrounds. Our inclusive environment fosters respect and understanding among our students.
Leadership opportunities are available for students who wish to take on responsibilities within the school. Our team of twelve prefects and four captains are elected by both students and staff. They lead our prefect body and manage our regular College Assembly program.
As part of our commitment to cultural awareness, we acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land, the Wallumattagal people, and pay respect to Elders both past and present.

"A trainwreck of a school, but what more do you expect from a public high school in Sydney…"
"I somehow lost brain cells at my time at ryde secondary . Fantastic place for breeding delinquents. 10/10 would recommend if you want your child to become a janitor."
"An average to below average school - really what you would expect from Sydney (we need more schools) Obvious factors: - EXTREMELY OVERCROWDED there will be no grass left in existence if they keep enrolling students (buildings everywhere) - BASICALLY NO AIR CON, only a few fans (stinking hot in summer) - NOT ENOUGH BUSES (many people aren't able to get home because not enough buses are sent) + the fact that the school is overpopulated Note: - The Maths Faculty needs to be improved desperately - Disrespectful students"
"Poor environment for studious kids (especially in the selective classes) with too many delinquents and teachers not able to control these kids. A lot of antisocial Lebanese/mixed cliques. Not sure if near a housing commission but that's the sort you get at this school..."
"An excellent school if you ask me, the teachers are great and seem like elite professionals that know what they are doing. Wonderful community filled with respectful students that are willing to learn everyday and caring teachers that try their best to teach to the best of their abilities. Definitely recommend parents to send their kids to this school as it lacks no flaws, it is a perfect school indeed."
