About the Business
Welcome to Dopa Donburi and Milkbar, located in North Ryde, Australia. Our establishment is not just a restaurant, but a point of interest for food lovers and those seeking a unique dining experience. Inspired by the flavors from the land of the rising sun, our name, DOPA, is a shortened form of the chemical 'dopamine', symbolizing the transformative experience of eating good food.
At Dopa Donburi and Milkbar, we strive to create a fresh and unexpected atmosphere, infusing distinctly Japanese elements into our menu. Drawing inspiration from the streets of Tokyo, we offer comfort food and convenient metropolitan living without compromising on our slow food ethos. Quality, sustainability, and ethical food production are at the forefront of our mission.
Our chef's specials include mouthwatering dishes such as Matcha Kakigori, Karaage Chicken, Pork Katsu, Strawberry Parfait, and Unagi Don. To ensure the highest quality, we diligently source our produce from small-scale farms in the region. These farms excel in heritage breeds of pig, cattle, poultry, fish, eggs, and plants, resulting in meat that is superior in both taste and texture. Our focus on animal welfare and stress-free environments reflects the values we hold dear.
In our commitment to nourishing our bodies and the planet, we prioritize ingredients that are free from harmful chemicals and pesticides. We source our vegetables seasonally from local producers, supporting the community and promoting sustainability.
Are you passionate about good food, business, and hospitality? If so, we invite you to join our growing DOPA family. We are currently seeking potential franchisees who share our vision. If you are interested in becoming a part of our team, please fill out the enquiry form below.
In addition to our North Ryde location, Dopa by Devon offers catering services at various other Dopa locations, including Sydney Place, The Galeries, Macquarie Centre, and Darling Quarter. Each of these locations maintains the same commitment to quality and taste that Dopa Donburi and Milkbar is known for.

"I've been hearing lots of wonderful thing about this place and I'm so happy that I was able to try it today. Today, I went with the beef tongue rice bowl and it was so delicious. The beef were cooked perfectly and the nori, egg, rice and teriyaki sauce really complement it! It was definitely above my expectation. I will come back to try their other menu item and I will try to go with their set menu on my next visit."
"Overall, it is a pretty good place to have dinner. The food is enjoyable, chill atmosphere and the staffs are friendly. One thing I might want to know before ordering Donburi is that the portion of rice is a bit much more than sauce, so I got only rice left over in the end. It was better if I ordered half rice or added more sauce."
"The facility and atmosphere is good. The service is also good, but the menu was basic and the food lacked flavor and portion. The matcha cheesecake was good, the cheesecake devour was very strong, but there was not a matcha flavor."
"Update: second visit - tried the ox tongue don and it was really tough, rice was a little too dry. The Gyoza was also drenched in oil (see photos). Star dropped unfortunately. Love this place. They serve amazing Japanese dons/rice bowls. Had the Angus beef don ($17) this time. Really well cooked and tender beef, well seasoned and not overly powered. The rice was really flavourful too as it‘a served with this ‘seasoned seaweed’. Portion size was relatively small if you compare to elsewhere. Will return."
"Easy going eatery with friendly and prompt service! Food quality and portions were decent and we enjoyed our meal. Didn’t wow me but my daughter loves this place!"
