Castle Cove Park 36 Holly Street, Castle Cove, New South Wales 2069
About the Business
Welcome to Castle Cove Park, a stunning establishment located at 36 Holly Street, Castle Cove, Australia. This park is not just any ordinary park, but a captivating tourist attraction and a point of interest that you must visit during your time in Australia.
Spanning over an impressive area of 6.22 hectares, Castle Cove Park encompasses a blend of sportsgrounds, bushland, and various recreational facilities. The name "Castle Cove" was given by Walter Burley Griffin, the renowned architect and landscape designer, who purchased the land in 1920. The name pays homage to the prominent Innisfallen Castle, which was built in 1904 and overlooks the picturesque Middle Harbour.
This park holds a rich history, as it was created through dedication and purchase when the Council approved the Deepwater No 6 Subdivision in 1953. The park pavilion itself bears the name of Laurence Frederick McGinty MBE, a local resident activist who played a significant role in the community as an Alderman, Mayor, and Member of Parliament.
Castle Cove Park offers a range of amenities and attractions for visitors of all ages. The playground area is fenced and features an array of exciting equipment, including slides, spinners, rockers, swings, and a magnificent giant frog sculpture. Children can enjoy endless hours of fun and laughter in this safe and vibrant environment.
For your convenience, there is a bus stop located at Kendall Street, which is only 500 meters away from the park entrance. Additionally, off-street parking is available, ensuring a hassle-free visit.
Beyond its recreational offerings, Castle Cove Park serves as a crucial ecological corridor within a continuous chain of bushland reserves along the foreshores of Middle Harbour. It plays a vital role in facilitating the movement of wildlife, such as bandicoots, lyrebirds, and swamp wallabies, from north to south. The park's proximity to Garigal National Park further enhances its significance as a natural habitat for various species.
Notably, Castle Cove Park connects with two Wildlife Protection Areas: H.D. Robb Reserve to the north-east and North Arm Reserve to the south, via the picturesque Castle Cove Golf Course. This connection creates a seamless pathway for wildlife to traverse from the national park through to Willoughby.
Please note that while the oval area is available for various sports activities, the surrounding bushland, children's play area, and barbecue areas are prohibited. We kindly ask visitors to respect these guidelines for the preservation of the park's natural beauty.
At Willoughby City Council, we recognize and acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands on which Castle Cove Park stands, the Gamaragal people. We pay our deepest respects to their Elders, both past and present.
Come and experience the tranquility, beauty, and rich history of Castle Cove Park. It is a destination that promises to captivate your senses and leave you with lasting memories.

Reviews
"Lovely open fields, minimal seating for parents. No canteen. Does have a single toilet for each but very basic. Parking is available but gets full very quick."
"Great flat track for running, scooting or learning to ride a bike. Exercise equipment and playground available as well as bbq facilities!"
"Great quiet park with plenty of parking nearby. There is a playground, basketball court and an outdoor gym. Also 2 soccer fields and a walking track that loops around them."
"Clean park in a great location would recommend heading down here weather it be for a game of cricket or just taking the dog for a walk."
"Nice little oval great for younger kids on their L's with their bikes or kicking their soccer balls. There is also a small playground safely enclosed in, where parents can relax without worrying for a run away kid. Its also great for small group picnics or parties with a few benches and seats. What make it more appealing over other parks, is that the picinic area is superbly shaded by trees which blocks out the scorching heat and UVs from the sun."
