Hallstrom Park 13 Small Street, Willoughby, New South Wales 2068
About the Business
Welcome to Hallstrom Park, a renowned establishment and park located at 13 Small Street, Willoughby, Australia. This picturesque park is not only a point of interest but also a popular tourist attraction in the area.
Named after Sir Edward Hallstrom, a prominent resident of Northbridge and the owner of the Silent Knight Refrigerator Factory in Willoughby, this park holds historical significance. In 1946, Sir Edward generously contributed 3,000 pounds for the improvement of this land, transforming it into a recreational and sporting haven for the community.
The design of the playground in Hallstrom Park is inspired by the layout of Taronga Park Zoo, where Sir Edward served as Trust Chairman for a decade. The large adventure playground was initially built in 1998 and underwent an upgrade in 2016. This playground showcases various artistic features, including sandstone animal carvings by Chris Bennett, sense-activated sound elements, an interactive "musicosaurus" by Jerome Lynons, and intricate forged metal fence and grate details by Libby Tulip and Phil Spark. As you explore the park, keep an eye out for a hidden stone crocodile camouflaged by rocks in the drainage channel.
Accessibility is a priority at Hallstrom Park, with a continuous accessible path that links various playground elements. Children can enjoy a mound slide without any steps, a sandpit, a water pump, a wide embankment slide, a carousel, a turtle dome climber, a children's bike track, and swings, including a basket swing.
If you're planning a visit, you'll find the entrance to Bicentennial Reserve just 60 meters away from the bus stop on Willoughby Road. Off-street parking is available next to the Willoughby Leisure Centre and netball courts, with an entrance from Small Street. Additionally, there is on-street parking adjacent to the playground and outside the Leisure Centre.
At Hallstrom Park, we also want to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land, the Gamaragal people. We pay our respects to their Elders, both past and present.
Come and experience the beauty and excitement that Hallstrom Park has to offer. It's the perfect destination for families, locals, and tourists alike.

"Great park with good play equipment, a cycling/scootering path for kids and an oval."
"So much to explore and play on including a great bike track for beginners and public toilets there too."
"Great park for kids with lots of swings, slides and things to climb. And plenty of seating for parents to rest on. The turtle is particularly fun."
"Beautiful park with lot of toys to play. Since the park mostly covered by trees, it won't be too hot in the summer. Try to visit it in autumn to see the beautiful colors of the trees"
"Nice unfenced playground with some bark chip and some rubber floor. Partially shaded by trees with street parking nearby. Cafe nearby. Toilets, bubbler and BBQ. Bike path for kids."
