About the Business
Welcome to deckdoctor.com.au, the premier establishment for all your DJ equipment needs. Located at 43-45 Doncaster Avenue in Kensington, Australia, we are a point of interest for DJs and music enthusiasts alike.
Our institution has a rich history, spanning close to 40 years since the release of the iconic SL1200 mk2 turntable. Known as "The Middle Class Quartz Direct Drive," this model quickly became a favorite among DJs due to its reliability and affordability, priced at $849 each. Even after all these years, the SL1200 mk2 continues to excel at its primary purpose - playing records.
In recent news, Sony Music Entertainment (SME) has announced their return to the analog format with the reissue of Billy Joel's 1978 album "52nd Street" on vinyl. This resurgence of interest in analog music has been observed worldwide, with Japan experiencing a tenfold increase in vinyl album shipments since 2009. As technology advances, turntables have gained popularity, especially with the introduction of Serato and Traktor systems.
At deckdoctor.com.au, we appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship that goes into working with vinyl records. From the sweat-soaked DJs meticulously adjusting the platter speed and pitch fader to keep the beat in sync, to the anticipation of the next track ending, it is an experience like no other. With the use of turntables, you get the best of both worlds - the tactile feel of vinyl and the convenience of modern technology.
While CDJs may offer convenience, there is something special about witnessing a DJ skillfully mix and blend records. We believe in the authenticity and artistry that comes with using traditional DJ equipment. That's why we continue to support and provide the iconic Technics SL1200 turntables, alongside a range of high-quality mixers.
For DJ equipment repairs in South Australia, we recommend The Electronic Doc. They are a trusted service provider for all your electronic needs.
Join us at deckdoctor.com.au and embrace the timeless art of DJing with the Technics SL1200 and a great mixer. Rediscover the joy of vinyl and experience the true essence of music.

"After 23 years of use my 1200’s just had their first service. Kevin showed genuine care for my decks and they now look, sound, smell and feel like new. Excellent customer service, lovely guy, and a great job. Many thanks Kevin. Cheers, Jason"
"Sent a couple emails + SMS didn't reply. I called the first and was told to call back in a week as he's really behind the schedule which is understandable. Then after going over a brief phone interview, I was told that he might be the right fit for the job but recommended/referred me to someone who deals with Reloop Mixtour parts."
"Kev is a walking encyclopaedia when it comes to pioneer decks and they’re internals. I spoke to him regarding a broken power supply and not only did he offer a competitive price for the part but he also explained to me how I can confirm this was the issue down to where I put my multimeter pins to test. Some of the best service I’ve received and couldn’t vouch for him any more"
"I sent a pair of Technics SL1200’s MKII’s to this Guy who had them for over six months. I had to call him three times towards the end and was told next week then next month, he had a different excuse every time. When they were returned he never did what I asked him to even though I included a cover note and we also spoke on the phone and the tone arm was bent on one deck! I am not accusing him of doing this, however there are three options: A: It was sent bent or damaged in post to him. B: He bent it C: It was bent in return post. If it was A: He failed to see a bent Tone Arm which is very slack as he was supposed to service them and check them over (I wonder what else he missed). If it was B: Enough said!! If it was C: He returned them via normal post and failed to insure them and now I cant do anything. Either way I can not make a claim now as I sent them insured and it been far too long and they have been returned. Both height adjustment rings have seized up again after he serviced them. I called him and he was slightly argumentative and stated the arm was not bent and I did not send them insured, as he could tell by postage label. I later sent him a copy of my Australia Post receipt clearly showing both decks were insured. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this bloke to anyone and please AVOID him if you value you Technics…."
"Thank you Kevin. My 1210's were in need of a bit of love and attention, and now they are back to the state they were in when i bought them 24 years ago. Having a ball mixing on them again...time to finally mix on 4 decks!! Thank you :) Nathan"
