"I reckon the shortage of Keralite restaurants in North Eastern suburbs is what drives us and many others to reluctantly order from Sehion cafe despite repeated bad experiences. There is such an abject lack of consistency in the food quality that it almost feels like you’re playing Russian roulette with your taste buds. Last Saturday we ordered beef fry and curry for a dinner party that we were hosting. For most Keralites beef is sacred (pun intended!), and the feeling of devouring a flaky piece of Porotta dipped in warm and savoury beef curry is an emotion unto itself. However this time, I saw my guests back away from the dish after a bite with the same fervour they approached it with. It seems that the cook added the masalas as an afterthought, and he tried to overcompensate for rawness with copious amounts. Now, I mostly try to give people a fair chance, and this is especially true for a fellow Keralite. So I rung up the owner and shared the feedback as delicately as I could. Not only did the owner not apologise, but he also shared a unique nugget of wisdom that eateries everywhere can make note of in terms of how to deal with customer feedback. He told me in a very matter-of-fact tone that I only needed to cook it again so that the raw masala flavour subsides. This was exactly what I had in mind when we ordered takeaway and the convenience of it still mesmerises me as I stand in front of my stove on a Sunday evening trying to salvage this mockery of a curry."
"Today we had the best Kerala beef biriyani from here. Really delicious. Very reasonable price. Very tasty. Highly recommended to all the mallus here. Must try."
"Taste of food has degraded to zero taste. It was once a great place to get authentic kerala cuisine but sadly not anymore. We ordered few foods, all food tasted below average and their beef fry and biriyanis were totally useless. Doesn't recommend this place at all."
"Not a lot of places where you can authentic malayali food around here. However this place doesn’t have seating and you’ll need to either take away or have the food delivered to you. Also worth noting is that the prices are very reasonable as long as you order is bulk. They do catering as their main jig and you’ve to account for this when you place orders here. For instance the $1 price you see on most stuff is only applicable as long as the order quantity is a 100 or above. Having said that, the food is yummy and tastes a lot like home."
"It's a small restaurant, nearly 6 persons can sit at a time. The business mainly focus on takeaway rather than dine in. You can taste mouth watering Indian foods at reasonable price. I ate porota and beef, the coconut pieces in the beef adds to its taste and porota was fluffy."
