Reviews
"Food was bland, noodles undercooked, no vegetables in dish other than onions and carrots and still expensive considering it was below average food. Unfortunately your chef is not up to any standard. Get him on the dishwasher at best."
"Quite hard to imagine a worse experience. As we entered the premises we were told to go up stairs and pick a table, so we did. Not long after the older lady that seems to be running the place came up and told us we couldn’t sit at the table we sat at so we had to move. It took a long wait until we were served. Half the drinks we ordered didn’t arrive and the entree arrive burnt. The wrong rice came with the main course and she wasn’t happy to change it. Meal came to $69.90 and she wanted to charge $7 more to use eftpos. We paid via cash and she then short changed us the 10c. Not an issue other than principal. I really wish I looked at the google reviews before choosing this venue."
"Went to the restaurant with 6 people and because of the expensive prices, we ordered a small fried rice which was $12.90 for the portion of one person. Normally, tea is a complimentary drink for customers. However we were not told that the cup of tea costs $3 per head until we paid. We had 4 people eat as 2 left. Altogether coming to a total of $32. There was also a piece of hair in the fried rice which we decided not to mention out of inconvenience. I do not recommend coming here as you will be scammed. Worst yum cha ever."
"Some of these reviews are harsh and outrageous! I had a really pleasant experience. Chicken fried rice and soup dumplings were tasty and flavourful. Portions were also decent. Food arrived at a reasonable time and the lady was welcoming and friendly. The upstairs area is beautiful. It provides a traditional ambience and comforting, homely environment. Come late at night for some zen vibes."
"Down in Chinatown New Tai Yuen has been there since 1975. Still serving great Chinese food. You can dine outside, inside or upstairs in the beautiful dining hall. Staff are attentive and the food tastes great. Grab a beer or wine and try some of their specials. The pork in honey and black pepper was delicious."
