Had done a massive amount of research online and asking around had found a lot of stuff that looked good but did not meet my requirements, until I came along the Rockymounts gear. I waited almost a year and made do with a tailgate pad, can I say it was well worth the wight not just for the product but the distributer also. The customer service and communication from the guys at Joad was unbelievable. I was kept in the loop every step of the way and I mean every step, as I was probably one of the first people in oz to order one as it wasn't even on their site yet. They offered multiple payment methods and didn't push one particular method on me. They were honest and upfront about exactly when the shipping container was coming in and kept me updated the entire way. One of the boys ended up dropping the package off to my house as he was visiting a mate so it was great to thank him face to face for everything. The only issue was that he dropped it by in the arvo and I didn't have time to put it together before it got dark. I was EXCITED! So service overall unbelievable very happy. 5 Stars. Have a ute and had been using a tailgate pad which had been great for carrying a heap of bikes when with mates but seemed a bit pointless when most of the time I only had to worry about my bike. It rubbed the s&%t out of the paint on my car and rubbed on the bike frame. Also I couldn't put the cover on the back so everything else had to be in some kind of waterproof bag when traveling. On to the rack itself. I F&$%ING love this thing. 1. Packing - Very well packed, nice and solid box. The rack came with not a single scratch on it. Needless to say I was stoked. 2. Assembly - Was vey easy to put together. Instructions were simple to follow and all bolts were separated into plastic bags. Every bolt, nut and washer mentioned was included. (+ some spares like the blue screw handle). Not a single strip to Bunnings. Again a happy man. Note: It was handy to have a second person to help assist. 3. Operation - On the plus side everything worked as it should have. I love the solid feel as each section 'clicks' together. Confidence inspiring! The swing arm is the greatest thing since sliced bread. (Had borrowed carriers from mates that tilted down but still had to rest the tailgate on the carrier and lean over the bikes to get to things in the back). Now I can swing the bikes out of the way and get to my gear in the back, sit on the tailgate... On the negative side... It seemed to be a bit stiffer to move then what I had seen in the videos. I may have done up the lock nut slightly too tight? Paranoid? Also the thing is brand spanking new. Might free up over time. 4. Removal - So there is a nice thick locking cable that mounts to the carrier. I love this thing compared to some of the bull$h!t ones I have seen included on some other brands that I could bite through. However you obviously need to take this off before unloading the bikes and no it doesn't nicely tuck away into the folding arm but it will actually deter / stop someone from stealing your bike. On the PLUS side you can throw it in your backpack and use it else where!!! Other than that it is a piece of piss. The carrier folds away nicely when not in use both on and off the car. Other stuff... 1. Doesn't have an auxiliary plate holder, brake lights or indicators. 2. It was super easy to make one of these. 3. It would be nice if the people at Rockymounts put the Rockymounts sticker on the outside of the swing arm so people stop asking me where I got my sweet carrier from! Just kidding I love making new friends and talking about this thing. Thanks to the guys at Joad Sports for importing this product love your work."
