"This place is fine. Staff were friendly. However, service was a little slow (I'll give the benefit of the doubt as that was just due to being busy). The building has its charm, but the menu is a little old fashioned for my liking and nothing was particularly eye-catching. The food itself wasn't incredible - I wasn't a huge fan of the margarine on the chicken burger. It really reminded me of cafes from 20 years ago but we had a nice afternoon. It might just be that the target market would be an older customer base rather than a younger "brunch-going" crowd, so perhaps this place just isn't aimed at someone like me. Edit: No one expected instant service. As explained, we could see they were busy. There are plenty of cafe/pub style venues scattered throughout the outer east, Yarra Valley and beyond which have a more modern menu and atmosphere. It's been a considerable amount of time since that was unique to the inner city. I've acknowledged above that this place just might not be for me and aimed at an older clientele, but an owner being somewhat defensive and publicly advising customers who werent won over that they should have tried elsewhere is a little unnecessary. You don't know until you've tried. This is simply my honest opinion and experience for others like me. Thanks however, for your friendly service and a nice afternoon. We will be sure to try again another time."

"Such a gem hidden places, This is one of best local cafe in Yarra Glen you can not missed it. Cafes in and out so colorful shops around with a pretty gardens. Friendly staffs and coffees great and massive tastey food. Nacho oven style is one of best, Try it out!"

"I wanted to catch up over lunch with a good friend so suggested dining at the Yarra Glen Cafe. I asked to be seated outside and we had a lovely view of the rose garden. We were very happy with the service and our food. My friend had the Tempura Prawns with a beautiful side salad and I had the Mediterranean Tart with Salad & a beetroot relish on the side. - Delicious!! They have great coffee too! We will be back.
