Nha Trang Delights 4 Westley Avenue, Ivanhoe, Victoria 3079

"Finding a place to eat online can be hit and miss. And although I prefer a personal recommendation, we've all chosen a place online, holding our breath that it'll be okay. Tonight we dined at Nha Trang Delights in Ivanhoe that turned out to be a little treasure after a quick glance on @tripadvisor Located off the main road in Ivanhoe, this small restaurant seems to have regulars due to the takeaway orders that were 'heading out the door' during our stay. As we walked in, my adult daughter said 'well this looks authentic' as we'd travelled to Vietnam and it felt, smelt and looked Vietnamese. The decor is kitschy but that's exactly how we found it in Vietnam. Plastic chairs, mirrored wall, small menu choice however, with oddly - chocolate frappes as a drinks option. The presentation of each meal looked average but was high on taste. To begin with, we had spring rolls, which were what you'd expect at any place. However, the beef salad - oh la la. It looked okay but tasted fabulous taste. The egg noodle stir fry with chicken was unbelievably tasty. Nice blend of spices and a little hosein that was on the table went down well. The Bánh mì was surprisingly fresh and the bread roll was not too crusty or dry. My only criticism would be that the portion sizes are smaller than I would expect. Hence my adult son was still hungry after his meal. Prices are around $17 for a main meal which appears a little on the pricey side but heck, the days of $12 mains are gone! The chef/cook was friendly and personable and I think she was running the place on her own. Well done. Notes: you can dine in or takeaway. Seats for around 14 people indoors and 8 outdoors. Parking was plentiful with a carpark at the rear of the restaurant. Disabled friendly, Dietaries catered for. "A no fuss, simple place for pho. Would appteciate a bit more portion for $17, feels more like $14 worth but you don't walk away hungry at least. Great for locals but if youre willing to drive further there are plenty of other better places. It'll do for a local craving."

"Honestly, I used to like this place. But my last two experiences have left a bad taste in my mouth. The Pho was basically water with a touch of seasoning, a scattering if veg, a few scraggly looking white clumpy noodles and yeah... the photo speaks for itself. The vegetarian spring rolls were basically mush wrapped in s semi soggy, semi partially crispy outer layer, one meadoly lettuce leaf (shouldn't there have been an additional three for the other three spring rolls in our pack?), and to top it off the dipping sauce was I have nfi. It definitely wasn't what I was eagerly anticipating. Yep. Unsure if I'll go back. But still love the daggy decor, kitsch for sure!"

"Always delishous - we have been slowly eating out way through the menu from this fantastic place. The Phos are great, as is the beef salad. If your stopping by you HAVE to order the special spring rolls they are the best and we can't order without getting them. Everything here is amazing and if your able to grab it for lunch the dumplings are also good (did I say this place was delishous already?) 10/10 I'm a repeat customer and its so reasonably priced do yourself a favour and stop by for some amazing Vietnamese cuisine today."
