Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club 16 Mitala Street, Newport, New South Wales 2106
About the Business
Welcome to the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, located at 16 Mitala Street, Newport, Australia. Our club is not just a bar, restaurant, or store; it is a multi-faceted institution that offers a wide range of services and experiences.
At the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, we take our responsibility to care for and protect the environment seriously. We are committed to implementing environmental management systems and practices that minimize our footprint on the environment. You may notice the Doyle Bros large orange trucks in our car park, as we have chosen them as our waste management partner.
As we head into the spring and summer season, our Yacht Racing Committee has been hard at work planning for the 2023-2024 racing season. We have introduced new initiatives and made tweaks to our traditional sailing program to keep the racing fresh and interesting. You can enter events and find more information on our website.
One of the highlights of our club is the RPAYC Opening Day Celebrations. The schedule of events includes complimentary pastries and tea/coffee in the morning, the firing of the canon and breaking of the flag, a sail past salute, and the Pittwater Dash race. After the opening ceremony, a gourmet BBQ will be available, and there will be a kids zone with a petting zoo.
If you have a love for heritage timber boats, you will appreciate the rich history of our club. VENTURA, one of our heritage timber boats, has a royal connection and has undergone several rebuilds throughout its more than a century of existence.
We are proud to congratulate Craig Douglas and his crew onboard Popeye for their outstanding performance in the Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Race. They achieved 1st place in IRC Division 2 and 2nd place overall in IRC, thanks to their calculated risks and strategic decisions.
In addition to our racing events and heritage boats, the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club offers a range of services and facilities. We have permanent berthing, mooring, and dry storage options for our members, as well as berthing and mooring for visitors. Families can enjoy our facilities with children included in a family membership package.
Our waterfront location on Pittwater provides a stunning backdrop for waterside dining, special events, work conferences, weddings, and large gatherings. We have experienced staff who can cater to your specific requirements.
If you're interested in learning to sail, we offer various courses for kids, youth, and adults. From beginner programs to advanced training, we have options for everyone. We also offer school holiday programs, private coaching sessions, and professional development courses.
The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club is a historic and prestigious institution situated on the beautiful Pittwater waterway. Known as "The Alfreds" by locals and members, our club has a long and colorful history and is currently home to the Admiral's Cup, one of yachting's most coveted trophies.
We invite you to explore all that the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club has to offer. Whether you're a seasoned sailor, a lover of history, or simply looking for a picturesque venue for your next event, our club has something for everyone.

Reviews
"As someone new to sailing, I had never been here before but what a pleasant find! Nestled away in the back streets of Newport, the club is in a great location. Top spot to relax after a day in the water."
"My family and I were there for dinner recently and it's not often I complain about woeful food however felt the need to speak up. I asked who was the chef that night and all I know is if we all go back (as we genuinely do love the place!) I'll confirm prior that Duncan will not be in charge of the kitchen that evening. Incredibly disappointed as was terrible."
"Beautiful setting and the food is amazing for a club. The service is excellent too... I can only recommend it! Breakfast, lunch, sometimes dinner... Check the Web site."
"The family shared a seafood platter and calamari dish and it was the perfect amount of food for the four of us, not to mention that the salad on the side was perfectly fresh and light, so it balanced out the deep fry perfectly. Please note that if you live in the local area you need to be a member or guest of member to enter the club."
