About the Business
Welcome to Plenty Gorge Park, a breathtaking natural wonder located just 20 km from Melbourne in Bundoora. This establishment is not just your ordinary park; it is a point of interest and a must-visit tourist attraction in Australia.
Plenty Gorge Park offers an array of natural and cultural experiences that will leave you in awe. As you explore the park, you will be captivated by the stunning landscape views, with the spectacular gorge serving as a magnificent backdrop. The park is home to abundant native wildlife, which is always on display, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts.
The park's unique geological features add to its charm. The Plenty River, shaped by volcanic activity, acts as a dividing line between two distinct geological types. On the west, you will find basalt formations, while the eastern side boasts sedimentary rock. This diversity creates a wide range of habitats, making the park a refuge for both threatened and regionally significant species.
Whether you're looking for a peaceful picnic or a fun-filled barbecue, Plenty Gorge Park has you covered. The park offers various recreation and picnic areas to suit everyone's preferences. The family-friendly Red Gum Picnic Area features a children's adventure playground, picnic tables, and facilities catering to parents and individuals with disabilities. Nearby walking tracks lead to the Morang Wetlands and the Hawkstowe Picnic Area, where you can enjoy stunning views of the Plenty River, wooded Plenty Gorge, and a historical homestead.
For those seeking tranquility, Middle Gorge provides breathtaking views of the gorge and river from its viewing platform and walking tracks. You can also enjoy a secluded picnic in the peaceful surroundings of Middle Gorge, with facilities conveniently located along the river.
Yarrambat Picnic Ground offers plenty of open space for games and on-lead dog-walking. Additionally, you can soak in the stunning views of Kinglake National Park and Mt Disappointment. If you're a fishing enthusiast with a Victorian Amateur Fishing Licence, don't forget to bring your bait and try your luck at Blue Lake. As the sun sets, take a moment to admire the pink hues of the cliffs rising above the lake.
If you wish to extend your stay, Nioka Bush Camp is the perfect place for group camping, with bunkhouse accommodation available.
Plenty Gorge Park is also committed to recovery and rehabilitation efforts following the 2019 fire. You can find more information about these initiatives on our website.
To enhance your nature experience, we recommend engaging with a Licensed Tour Operator. With over 400 operators across Victoria, they can help you explore and connect with the park's spectacular landscapes and waterways. From hiking and mountain biking to indigenous culture tours and birdwatching, there are over 60 different nature-based experiences to choose from.
We strive to ensure that everyone can enjoy our wonderful parks, including those with disabilities. Plenty Gorge Park offers facilities and amenities that cater to people of all abilities, including accessible picnic areas. Assistance dogs are also welcome in our parks and reserves, subject to entry requirements.
Please note that nature is ever-changing, and conditions may vary. We recommend checking our website for any updates before your visit.
At Plenty Gorge Park, we are dedicated to preserving our valued parks and their natural assets and cultural heritage for future generations. We are currently undertaking a project to create the new Plenty River Trail, upgrade the Hawkstowe Picnic Area, and improve Nioka Bush Camp. These enhancements will offer visitors new and accessible experiences to walk, ride, play, and stay in Plenty Gorge Park.
Lastly, we acknowledge the Traditional Owners and their ongoing connection to the land. We recognize their vital role in caring for Country, which allows us to learn, explore, and live in these Aboriginal cultural landscapes.
Come and immerse yourself in the beauty of Plenty Gorge Park, where nature's wonders await you.

"It’s a beautiful trail. Yes, if you are not looking at the map carefully, you can lost Bridge is still out. If you are in a group or with someone, can cross the river with the help of fallen tree. Otherwise just dip the feet and cross it. It’s an easy trail otherwise."
"The park is more fun than you expect. It is a popular park for mountain biking and running, hiking as well. During the winter time, there are many kangaroos jumping and having parties like other visitors. The path in the park is also worth exploring, please wave to those riders having trouble crossing the rivers. The views of the blue lake are spectacular too. I do recommend to have a closer look at it and you will have different feelings"
"Great trails for running, walking and riding. Ranging from narrow single track to wider authorised vehicle tracks. Don’t bother trying to navigate, just go where the trails take you! Lots of wild life!"
"Everything is fine in the park. There is a barbeque area in the parking lot. You can swim in the lake, but the water is a little stinky."
"Beautiful place to visit in Northern Suburbs. You can have a nice walk inside the park. Not crowded usually. There is an area for picnic also. Nice atmosphere and environment. Must visit"
