"Service, quality and meal options have slightly all gone into decline over the years. The staples are ok but the pies are not as good as they once were. It's lost some of the shine from the years gone by but it certainly can be returned with some extra care on the food. Will revise in the next 12 months. I really hope they sharpen it up because it's an institution in Portarlington and I do like it."
"We love this place, everything is very tasty, very good service, we really like the backyard and overall if you are in the area you should stop to this amazing place."
"We drove down here from Belmont with my co-worker's advice. The working hours on Google are incorrect. The vanilla slice is poor as it has thick pastries and a butter-like custard. The meat pies and the coffees are below avarage. 1-star is only for their cozy space & backyard, however T.I. (an American rapper) is running at the background which I don't believe their playlist fits to the atmosphere."
"I love such places. An old traditional bakery following the business concept for more than 100 years. The bread, pies, sandwiches, morning Buns, just everything was superb. The coffee was one of the best I had in more than a week on our trip through South Australia and Victoria. The coffee fruit bun was great and the front loaf was as well. The almond croissant was like I remember from childhood. And the bread was really lovely as well. You see and taste the passion and the Woodfield oven flavor in the bread. A place worth driving to from a greater region and definitely must-do again on my next Melbourne trip. Thanks to the friendly staff for this great experience."
"The coffee is great but the pies are terrible. Too much pastry which looked and tasted uncooked. We had 3 different pies which had the same meat filling with the only difference being curry or cheese. Don’t say, it’s steak and cheese when it’s all mince. The ambiance is nice but food was very ordinary"
