"I didn't even go inside the main structure, which had a modest entrance fee, however I was shocked by the beauty and scale of the grounds. It was built in the 19th century by a rich pastoral family and contains italianesque architecture, a rose garden , a small lake, glass houses and more. The state parks department has put up signs at places of significance around the grounds to help you learn about its history. Overall well worth going for a day trip from Melbourne. There is also accommodation on site and a restaurant ."
"Great architecture work, to visit inside you need to buy the ticket to view rooms. Entry to the garden is free. Nice park with a good walking track. Great place to escape and enjoy nature. Council need to invest on roads, very bumpy and gravil for some part."
"This place is definitely worth a visit. Went here with family last week and was in awe of the place. Although pruned, the air still had the perfume of the roses. The winding walkways lined with different trees (with names) lead to the mansion. There was a paterre beautifully planted with different colored silverbeet. The entry to the mansion was free for the day so we got a chance to explore. There were many rooms to look at and fresh produce on display. Helpful and informed attendants gladly answered any questions and gave additional information too. There is also a ballroom upstairs where they engage the audience with a group dance. The ladies and gentlemen were dressed in traditional costumes and walked around everyone, happily clicking pictures. Outside the mansion, there was a walkway away a grotto, but was unfortunately closed. We walked around it and went off. There are cafes to eat up but best to bring a picnic basket to sit on the beautiful lawns. Ample space for the kids to monkey around. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a relaxing spot."
