"Woolworth - Double Bay, Sydney When growing up in Berlin, Woolworth wasn’t exactly known to be upper end, but merely where “Otto Normal Verbraucher” (translated more or less, average Joe) would do their shopping for necessities etc etc When our friend @melnathan recommended to give it a try, we thought , sure why not, after all we are staying for a month and why not combining it with some sightseeing! We were so pleasantly surprised by the upper market feel but more so at the substantial selection available! No it’s not a super high end gourmet temple, but it is upper end , solidly priced, competitive that is, and perfect if one looks for mostly solid Australian produce! To us that was kinda heavenly and we spend a good hour walk through every single aisle! What stood out was the Baked Goods section, mostly baked onside to what we understood, the variety was impressive! It was one of these ordinary experiences that we treasure for a simple lifestyle! Based on that we will do a lot more Homecooked meals while staying at our Air B&B, beside the amazing weather this trip turns out to be just perfect! "One of the new-look Woolworths supermarkets with distinct specialist areas - cheese, kosher, pharmacy-style area for non-prescription medicine and personal toiletries. For American visitors, Australian supermarkets don't have resident pharmacists. There's a wide range of groceries, but arrangement of shelves seems to feature certain suppliers. Veges can be a bit stale at times and some types seem to run out. Staff are polite and helpful. Convenient covered parking, free if you spend $30 or more in the store (or neighbouring Dan Murphy liquor)."
