Reviews
"Having drivenpast this place for 2 years since we moved here. I always said we need to check it out. So tonight we did. Food was generous and very tasty. Prices okay. Beers cold and went down well. Will definitely be back."
"Loved this place. Food came out quickly. Maybe too quickly. We were still eating entrees when main came out. Maybe a 20min break would’ve been good? Gluhwein was amazing! Food was nice and filling. We had no room for dessert. There was vegetarian food on the menu. Atmosphere was great. Place was full. Plenty of parking at the back of restaurant. Loved the quirky decorations."
"No... Just no. "Maybe you don't like German food?" (Staff member when advising it was inedible.). I love, love, LOVE it! This certainly wasn't it. Really, really wanted to enjoy Bohemian Euro Restaurant, as our local taste of Europe Restaurant. I see good reviews frequently. Visited twice with 2 years between. Both leaving no positive impression. Atmosphere was okay, it was quiet, but liked the old European interior, the flags, - began on a good note, and had been waiting for some time, building anticipation, driving past daily, waiting for the opportunity to go here (hoping our first visit was bad luck where my wife vowed not to return). The menu is pricey, ended up costing $110 for 2 person meal. Entree - Pretzels were very crusty, dry, not supplied with enough butter, and contained less than a pinch of salt. I LOVE German pretzels, but these aren't it. Main - Jagerschnitzel (pictured) should fill half the plate, it was smaller, and certainly thinner than my phone, it also tasted boiled, rather than having any crust, or contact with any hot plate. Spaetzel tasted like bland, watery tofu. Main - Pork Knuckle - the crackling, and fried onion was the redeeming factor of the review shooting from 1, to 2 stars, as they were edible (still short of anything memorable) but again, the meat inside was bland and tasted of nothing but water. Beers - Shandy was bitter, mango beer was okay - but certainly not as memorable as any tasted in Germany, which were to die for. I left so disappointed, I don't know if we've had two bad nights, given the stellar reviews. I absolutely adore German food; nothing tops a well executed small family-oriented German restaurant. The one that unfortunately closed in Penrith during COVID did many things much better. I can appreciate staff were dressed accordingly and wearing masks still, post COVID was an added bonus I can appreciate from health/safety. But the food was just so, so bad - the menu explicitly calling out no exchange or refunds, may have been a warning flag. We left our mains (and I very rarely do not finish my plate 100%) for Woolworths across the road to buy dinner to make back at home - stomachs, and wallets empty; vowing not to return to be stung a third time."
"They have a 3-course meal option on Wednesdays and Thursdays for $36. Pork knuckle is $39, and cocktails are around $18. Despite all the decor, there wasn’t any visible dust which I appreciated. Entree: crumbed mushrooms, meatball soup, langos (Hungarian fry bread). The mushrooms were okay though I felt they were overcooked and lacked flavour. I found the meatball soup pleasant however my dad didn’t like the flavour and simplicity. The langos is a favourite amongst my parents and I and was delicious to dip into the leftover soup. Mains: Swedish meatballs, creamy sauerkraut dumpling soup (can’t remember what it was called), pork knuckle. The Swedish meatballs were tasty, however the portion was a little small for my liking (3 meatballs). I’m glad they don’t skip out on providing jam. The sauerkraut had some great flavour, with tender meat, and a dumpling that ended up being my favourite part. From what I had, the pork knuckle was nice, not overcooked. Dessert: pistachio gelato, profiteroles. The gelato was super creamy and very good. There were only 4 profiteroles on the plate, and my dad and I swear that only 2 of them had filling. However, they were still nice and I ended up filling half with the provided vanilla ice cream. Drinks: (not sure of their names) lychee cocktail, apple absinthe cocktail. The lychee drink was very nice and we have said we’d get it again. Very refreshing and tasty. The apple drink tasted only of apple juice for a long time until the alcohol hit near the end. The alcohol must it on-top of the juice so I’d recommend stirring it. Overall and super cute place that we enjoy visiting when in the area. Would recommend it if you’ve got the money. :D"
"Whilst the outside of this restaurant is not overly appealing it definitely is a restaurant that gives tune to the adage - Don't judge a book by it's cover. Stepping inside and seeing the staff dressed in traditional German attire and the collection of spoons around the restaurant as well as the hanging witches for good luck. A great array of traditional German dishes to be explored and also some great beer on tap of varying size to be drunk. The staff were very helpful and polite and most of the food was delicious. The only negative was my wife's dish (Veal Bolognese) was not fantastic - a little dry and flavourless. However all other meals were delicious."
