Reviews
"My last review of this restaurant was two months ago and my score for it is middling with issues concerning food and service standards. I have eaten there twice recently and I am happy to report that the quality of the food and service have both improved significantly. I increased its scores across the board to reflect that. I do wonder if the restaurant has changed hands in the intervening months because the changes are so obvious. Regardless, I'm happy that this restaurant has got its mojo back."
"If you feel like rice, order for this place. Never see anything like it. Mounds of rice to substitute filling. Very disappointing. Paid an extra $1 (no biggy) for avo for the kids roll that had cucumber in it. Never stated that it wasn’t an add, just a replacement for the cucumber. Totally unimpressed."
"Sushi-Ya has been a favourite and reliable 'go to' for over 15 years be it their Artarmon or Chatswood locations. I can honestly say that I haven't had a single dish here that wasn't first class. Always fresh and always prepared perfectly. Value for money is great."
"We used to come here quite often when they opened more than a decade ago. They used to be better is all i can say. Heaps better. In all areas. Tempura udon 2.5/5, we dont mind if the broth came out of a bottle. But the quality of the tempuras were below par esp the prawns. Seriously ditch the old prawns. Unagi set 2.5/5, mushy eel does not a good unagi set make. Black cod 1/5, i cant be bothered to describe the atrociousness of this. Karaage set 2.75/5, the saviour of the night which is to damn with faint praise. The quality of the rice left a lot to be desired."
"Our latest dining experience at Sushi Ya was not as good as before. The service was sloppy and abrupt. It was hard to get attention and the service was minimal. I guess it might be a busy night or not enough staff on duty."
