"The hotel is currently closed while it is undergoing a renovation. Despite that we tried our luck to call in and request for a short visit as I have been looking forward to visit the hotel for the last ten years. Lo and behold, Jenson very graciously invited us in to have a quick look inside this historic hotel building, and even gave us a personal tour of the famous haunted hotel room, room number 25 that I've been wanting to visit, as well as their reception area! Even though the hotel is undergoing a renovation, we were also pleased to know that it still kept all the iconic keychains hung in the reception area. Jenson was very patient with us, and he even gifted me with a lanyard with the hotel name on it! Thank you very much for the very kind hospitality! Would love to visit the hotel again in the future once all the renovations are completed!"
"Got a tour of the hotel even though it was under renovation! This hotel was featured in an animated TV show, and it was my friend's dream to stay in the hotel. Mr. Janson (?) was kind enough to let us in even though it was not open for public yet. I truly appreciate the kind gesture. The hotel itself was very warm and cosy and in a beautiful location with great views! I look forward to coming to stay once it reopens."
"Me and my family had a great stay. The location was super convenient to discover the city and to have a quick access to the airport. My family, who doesn't speak English, could move around the location of the hotel easily and find perfect places for them to have a drink and some food. The staff cared a lot about the room for my parents when I told them they had some difficulties to move, I really appreciated their effort and the information provided. Also, the hotel has lots of personality, which is not always easy to find in a big city like Sydney!"
"Great location, clean, quaint and historic. Our only complaint was our room, 24 definitely requires air conditioning. It was incredibly hot and you couldn't keep the window open, due to two large air con compressors for other parts of the hotel, running 24x7. Adequate breakfast provided. We would stay again but only in an air conditioned room."
"My room was small but comfortable. Shared bathroom was clean, and I only had to wait to use it once during my stay. On Saturday night, I could hear the piano music a little bit from the bar downstairs, but I didn't mind. I liked it. Also, the pub - Fortune of War - was fabulous. Friendly and with great music. Enjoyed singing and carousing. Also, the location couldn't be beat, as it was close to transport and the most beautiful parts of Sydney. Bed comfy too. Excellent stay."
