"This review is based on an experience that came in with a 6 hour prior booking. It was a friday night and i thought we weren’t able to get a booking but we did. Came with no expectations or whatsoever. Never tried any of the kuon group’s initial establishment prior to sushi sei. Thus the no expectations. Would love to try their other establishment if we get a chance to book. Side note: do try to book, otherwise a walk in is going to cost you a 30-50 minutes wait at least. We started off with two different sake off the menu at $15 each for 50ml sake. And darn.. it was good! One was savoury floral notes and the other was on a sweeter fruity and floral notes. We tried the $75 tujou 12 dish omakase menu. The chu toro and o toro deffinitely stands out with melt in your mouth sensations. But the star was fat belly of a fish that melts right away as it touch your tounge due to the warmth of your body. Another reccomended sushi we tried was the kani miso that’s not in the Tujou. Overall love the food quality, service, atmosphere and their offerings."
"Price point was cheap given the quality of the cuts of sashimi. Ranked a little lower on the atmosphere side as the seating was limited to 60 minutes which felt a bit rushed. Tastiest scallops, engawa (which I've never had before), mackerel and other amazing cuts. $70 for the 12 sushi omakase and you can add additional a la carte (highly recommend the chawanmushi). We splurged for some Hokkaido Uni and it was well worth the price for melt in your mouth absolute deliciousness"
"Perfect spot for date night out Reasonable price for casual omakase experience Good quality sushi and great service highly recommend :)"
"Kappo by Kuon has now been repurposed as a ‘walk-in’ sushi counter. If you want that feeling of being in Japan, then this place is a must visit. Even though they have the walk-in option, I still recommend booking. I waited for an hour for a seat. Can you believe I’ve never been to the Kuon sushi omakase before? I did get a chance to try their tempura omakase one time. But I think it was a combination of things - inability to get a booking, finding the right time to go and probably that huge price tag attached to the experience. All of the sushi was really nicely prepared. To be honest I was quite sceptical as prices are still up there. Also for me I do associate the price point with the surprise of seeing what courses the chef comes up with. However, it was quite enjoyable to take control and just choose what I wanted. No holding out hope if a hand roll will come because I was just able to order it myself! I spent $98 which included a glass of wine, things such as toro, uni, imperadore, chawanmushi etc. I could have ordered a few things to be more full. But the price would have been far below the $220 cost of the Kuon omakase. It was also 3pm by the time I ate and I needed to save time for dinner. This place is definitely worth a visit if you love sushi."
"The perfect concept. High quality sushi perfect for a more casual experience. Great for a quick bite."
