Reviews
"We were very happy with our suite. It was exceptionally well equipped. Very clean. Very comfortable bed. Lovely towels. Lovely staff. Fantastic location for our needs."
"Hi everyone, I would just like to say, the veriu Randwick was a clean and great place to stay, after our flight home was canceled, we stayed 2 nights, the staff did everything to help us feel welcome and safe, we are 2 ladies age 65 and 70. My friend doesn’t travel much she loved everything about the apartment, it felt like home as soon as she walked in the door. She is thinking about bringing her husband here for a week. Before I finish my review always remember we all have different needs, so if you don’t like some things other people might, book a room here, see what you think. Have a great day life is to short to be unhappy"
"My partner and I stayed at Veriu Randwick in March 2023 (room 318). This feedback was provided to the hotel, including numerous images, and the Manager’s response was “We would like to offer you a complimentary upgrade to one of our premium rooms should you choose to stay with us again in the future. We believe that this gesture demonstrates our commitment to ensuring a more enjoyable experience on your next visit.” No thanks, we won’t be back. We stayed at Veriu Randwick because I had a surgery nearby. It’s a popular hotel for this reason because there is a car park and a lift. We did report some of the issues in person during our stay, and the staff we met at the hotel were lovely, caring and clearly hardworking. We would like to highlight Flo and Nizar in particular who were incredible and kind. Both are assets to the hotel. We had mixed results on the issues we reported to staff, and it often came down to the building being renovated and they didn’t really care that we were paying for what the hotel might be one day, not what it is today. Don’t let them give you a carpark above ground level unless your car is tiny or you don’t care about damaging it, as the walls of the ramps are covered in the paint of past attempts. Car park is also a dump for rubbish and old furniture. Rooms are bleak, and haven’t had a proper deep clean in years /ever. Everything looks old and dirty and has a layer of stick - walls, ceilings, floors, furniture. For eg, we had to put tissues and tea towels down on the bedside tables so our belongings were not damaged. The couch is the most uncomfortable chair I’ve ever used, the bed has a hump in the middle, the pillows were unclean or incredibly stained. The dryer was full of blue fuzz and we had to clean it before using it. The cleaning products they use, and the time allocated to staff to clean, is not enough. We had a large outside area which was unbelievably gross with mould, cobwebs, and dirt. The roof was sagging/detaching from water damage and mould. So much so we didn’t like having the doors opened, and also the filthy screen doors did not help with this issue either. Neither of the TVs worked. One was replaced. There were roaches in the room most days, we had to ask for bug spray. The fridge/freezer didn’t work properly and kept freezing our food. We lost about $50 worth of vegetables trying to work out what settings to have it on – in the end there was no good setting. Hot water began to run out quickly part way through our stay and we had to time showers hours apart and use minimal water pressure. Had we been in a position to change hotels we would have, but as mentioned above I had surgery nearby so it just wasn’t possible. We paid a total of $3,113.01 for 11 nights (room + car park), and that was with the member rate. We feel like we were robbed. Don’t stay here unless you’re desperate, and don’t care about money or mould."
"Overall Presentaion and Housekeeping: Room was fresh and clean when I arrived, cleaning staff were lovely and generous with towels, taking rubbish away and providing free cleaning and hygiene samples. Natural light: Was a nice amount without being blinding in the morning or afternoon. Would have been nice to have curtains in the bedroom as the doors don’t block out the light completely. Checkin: Was unattended when myself and other guests arrived. No notice of how to collect our keys, left me an other guests confused and concerned. Calling Reception: It was common for the Randwick phone line to not answer on the first try, would cut off after pressing #2 to be connected to reception. Elevators: They were lagging and sometimes it forgot inputs after pressing the button. At times they would smell strongly of food like it was being cooked nearby in the building. Fire Alarms: One time the whole building had a false alarm because of construction. On another instance my rooms alarm kept going off every minute. As a result they just took the alarm off the roof. Every night after reception closed the fire alarm board would ring constantly unless it was silenced. Carpet: Carpet in the room was wet when I arrived, started to smell after three days. Was addressed my management which was appreciated but seemed to be a common issue as a lot of the rooms had fan dryers in the room trying to dry the carpet at the same time. Smell started to come back after a while. Aircons: Filters were not cleaned recently so resulted in a mouldy smell unless set to a cold temperature. Bed: Wasn’t a double as booked. It was two singles pushed together both of which had big dips in the centre. Over two weeks though it became more uncomfortable. Had good clean sheets and nice pillows. The hygiene standard was good. Sometimes housekeeping would come in without notice. I don’t blame them, I think it wasn’t communicated by reception and management as to when guests would and wouldn’t be in the room. Overall I wouldn’t recommend saying here unless short term and not during any big events. Not worth staying in the one bedroom apartments as there’s wear and tear and comfort minor safety issues. I payed around $4150 for two weeks and that wasn’t worth the investment compared to other spaces that were available and with all the issues present."
