"Fun hike with beautiful views. We hiked in late July on a cloudy day. We wore non-waterproof hiking shoes and our feet were muddy and fully soaked throughout the hike. It's kinda fun to squish your way through the bog. The trail was mostly well worn and easy to follow. It would probably be challenging on top during foggy/misty weather with low visibility. When going up the gully, we took the right side (when facing it from the bottom) which seemed like a gentler incline. It took us 4.5 hours to go up and back (we're slow hikers) Hiking poles are useful for the descent, as some areas are slippery. I was afraid to do this hike because it wasn't officially marked and I didn't want to fall off the mountain. But it felt safe (following the trail and going carefully) and I'm really glad I did it. If you're confident in your endurance and footing and you have good weather(visibility), I recommend this hike!"
"Start for an ascent of Benbulbin. Small area to park. Don’t leave belongings on view in your car. Short walk along path till you start going off road to get to the base of the mountain. Lots of sheep to see on the way and the river flowing under Luke’s Bridge is a nice photo opportunity."
"The place to park your car, then start the journey of your life towards the flat headed mountain, Benbulben. Careful, DO NOT LEAVE ANY VALUABLES IN THE CAR. Be prepared for a journey on a very wet and muddy soil, but trust me, this is a unique hiking experience!!!!"
"Nice hike to the top of Ben Bulben. From Luke's bridge it took us 1h 35 min to the very top. We then walked further to the end of the mountain, this took us another 25 min, so in total 2 hours. Our way back home from this point took us 1,5 hours to the parking lot. So in total expect around 3,5 hours hike if you want to do the whole tour. We did this hike on a sunny afternoon in June. Guess it will take longer if it is much more muddy. Please wear proper waterproof hiking shoes and clothes that could get dirty. Even if we had perfect weather, the underground is very wet and you will walk through a lot of mud and surely get dirty legs. On top you have a nice view to all sides of the ocean. Totally recommended, wonderful hike :-) Parking lot is for free."
"At a push you can maybe get 10 vehicles parked here depending how tight everyone gets. There is space for a few more slightly up the hill on the walking route. Depending on pace up and down benbulbin you’re looking at 3/4 hours walk from here. Just hope you get slightly better weather than I got"
