Reviews
"As a lifelong fan of the movie this museum and tour did not disappoint. From the kindness of Anne when we arrived to the witty narrative of Gerry as our guide. The tour is filled with fun insights and behind the scenes stories. It was a wonderful experience to see the charming sites where this beloved movie was filmed."
"Excellent tour, fantastic guide. My pictures are from the Reverand Playfairs house, the Abbey and the famous pub. Just a few of the wonderful locations used in the movie of which we were showed the lot. Well worth it."
"Lovely Quaint Little Museum Solo I must say this is a delightful little museum. It recreates the house from 'The Quiet Man' filmed in Cong in the summer of 1951. However, interior scenes were shot in the USA so this beautiful little cottage is a recreation of the set. Full of curios and memorabilia from the film and there's monitor showing all the places in the Cong area where the film was shot. It's gorgeous in there, a step back in time."
"I remember watching The Quiet Man in Softmore English class. We even watched it at our Air Bnb, so it was actually quite cool walking around and seeing all the places that were in the movie. One of the neatest things is that there is a building on a bridge and then the movie it just has a little bit of Ivy growing on it. But when you go to the building now it's almost completely covered and you can see the trees have grown in in the areas. Such a cute little town and then to have this little piece of American film so entwined with it it was a little fun."
"While looking for things to do during a trip to Ireland, and being a fan of the movie, I was excited to find the Quiet Man Museum and was delighted to find that we could book a private tour. I contacted Lisa and we easily made the arrangements by email for the 4-hour tour. Lisa is an amazing tour guide and a wonderful storyteller! She was a font of information about the movie, and the filming in Cong and the surrounding counties, and she had wonderful behind-the-scenes stories to tell about the local families--including her own, that were involved in the filming. Even if you are not familiar with the film (in which case you should go watch it right now!) you will enjoy this tour. Lisa's knowledge of the film is probably pretty unprecedented but she was equally happy to point out other areas of interest, recommend local restaurants, and answer our questions about all things Irish. The time just flew by as she ferried us around the picturesque village of Cong and out to the Connemara Mountains The area is so beautiful--it is a truly pristine country that they work hard to keep that way, and there were so many beautiful sights to see from Cong Abbey to the Castle, and the farms along the Connemara valley. Do yourself the favor and book a tour with the charming and entertaining Lisa when you visit the area. We felt it was the best part of our trip!"
