Westport Plaza Hotel Castlebar St, County Mayo

"We had a welcome break from home in the Plaza after Christmas. We were welcomed and served with heart and kindness. The room ever so comfy , a fabulous bath and shower and very good food."

"Stayed here the last weekend in March with my husband and 2 kids. We arrived on the Sunday for check-in at 3.30. We were told that the room wasn't ready yet but we could have a look at the pool in The Castlecourt. We weren't given any indication of how long it would take to have the room ready and ended up waiting in the lobby until 4.45, an hour and 15 minutes after we should have checked in. Our 2 young kids were so disappointed as they were so excited to go swimming as soon as we arrived. The foreign desk staff were so cold and unfriendly and basically ignored us. The guy that we we're dealing with gave a half hearted offer of a late check out but to be honest we were happy to be leaving. Even on checking out, the foreign lady behind the desk mumbled something like "everything OK?" but clearly didn't want to hear if it had been or not. We had a family room, €512 for 2 nights and we really felt that it wasn't worth it. The TV was terrible, barely responding to the remote. My husband hit his head badly on the attic roof (the section that hadn't been covered) in the bedroom. The room (606) smelled of mould, so much so that all of our clothing smelled when we got home. Only 2 towels in the bathroom, 2 glasses and 2 cups even though there were 4 of us in the room. Everything just felt very minimal and the cleaning staff seemed to be run off their feet. The location is great though and breakfast at Coveys was excellent. We just felt that there was a lack of attention and genuine consideration."

"3rd of January (1 night). My partner and her sister stayed in the presidential suite in the Plaza Hotel. These are the issues that they had. No chocolates on arrival, stated on the website that there would be No water in the room, when they rang down they said its in the fridge ,the fridge was empty. No wine, it says there was wine in the presidential suite on the website. No shower gel, no bath soap, and 1 bathrobe for two guests. One of the beds had no duvet, only a light sheet when they asked for a duvet. Staff arrived with the duvet in one hand and duvet cover, In the other, they had to put the cover on themselves. ''So much for a relaxing break'', they said. Dinner service so slow ,drinks never came but yet charged for them on the bill. They did tell the waitress, but they didn't get their drinks . Overall a very disappointing stay in the hotel and leaving them very reluctant to recommend it due to this experience."

"Me and my family spent one of our memorable trips at Westport Plaza Hotel. The hotel was fantastic, with a very high-level standard for 4 starts hotels, it was clean, with the entire facility, specially Jacuzzi in the room. The hotel staffs were great and very helpful. I was very pleased all in all. Thank you for all of them."
