About the Business
Welcome to Frank O'Briens Pub, a traditional Irish establishment located in the heart of Athy, Emily Square. Our pub has been a staple of the community for years, serving as a gathering place for locals and visitors alike.
As a bar, we pride ourselves on our extensive selection of beers, wines, and spirits. Whether you're in the mood for a pint of Guinness, a whiskey on the rocks, or a refreshing cocktail, we've got you covered. Our bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to share their recommendations.
But Frank O'Briens Pub is more than just a place to grab a drink. We also serve delicious food that rivals any restaurant in town. From classic pub fare like fish and chips and shepherd's pie to more elevated options like pan-seared salmon and grilled steak, our menu has something for everyone. And don't forget about our famous Sunday roast - a local favorite and the perfect way to end the weekend.
As a grocery or supermarket, we offer a range of items that are perfect for those on-the-go or who want to take a piece of Frank O'Briens Pub home with them. Grab a loaf of our homemade bread, a jar of our signature pickles, or a bag of our house-blend coffee.

"One of my favourite pubs ever. Its like a time capsule with the combined grocery and bar stocking local artisan products and the old favourites. The pint ii always perfect and they have great coffee too. Always has a great atmosphere with friendly clientele."
"Truly authentic Irish pub, friendly service. A place to go if you want peace, quiet and civilised conversation."
"Lovely old pub and grocers . Owners very pleasant and knowledgeable about the town. Great pint of Guinness too !"
"Had some drinks here with some friends. What a lovely quirky experience in an old world atmosphere. The landlady was lovely and friendly. Enjoyed this experience. Will visit again. Highly recommended this pub"
"O'Briens is a traditional style pub. Run for over a hundred years by the same family, it has remained like an intact time capsule of the Old Irish Country Pub. Many of these pubs have disappeared in recent decades. Some friends of mine from Dublin were confused when they entered looking for a pint, as the front part of the establishment is a small grocery shop. This means you can pick up a pint of milk on your way home! O'Briens is a hub for local history, and many local groups meet there. It's a great spot for a quiet pint and a chat. Also serves a fantastic pint of Guinness! Note: the adjacent Open Gate yard is a lovely spot to spend an evening. Pint and a chat, while enjoying the evening air. Check the Facebook page for times."
