"My first experience at SBG was in February 2022 when the ladies self defence workshop was held by coach Marie Kennedy. This was a great initiative set up by the club, Marie made it a really fun morning for us all. I didn’t waste any time and signed up for the ladies 8 week beginner course on the way out! I didn’t really know what I had just signed up for, all I knew was I had fun and I wanted to come back! I met a great group of girls through the ladies beginner course and when the 8 week course finished signed up for full membership. I then started attending the mixed jiu jitsu fundamental classes a few evenings per week and it has become a routine now. SBG & Jiu jitsu has helped me so much with confidence, mobility, weight management and most importantly my mental health. We have the kindest people on our mats and top tier coaches running the classes. It is honestly the best thing I have ever done for myself. Thank you to all my coaches at SBG, special mention to Marie for introducing me to jiu jitsu and getting the ladies classes started. On the other side of the club we have CrossFit, I have attended these classes in the past and they are run very professionally, Michael is a great coach and genuinely cares for each individual in the class, he will make sure you are using correct form during lifting and if you can’t do some of the movements he will adjust it to build you up to it.
