"My sister and I booked in for the couples relaxation package. It was fabulous. The therapists were so professional and we really enjoyed our treatments. The thermal suite beforehand were so peaceful and well kept. Will definitely be returning to try out other treatments. A hidden gem in Loughrea. Recommend it highly."

"Unfortunately I had a terrible time trying to visit this spa. After searching through many hotels around Ireland looking for a spa break I settled on Loughrea Hotel and Spa as it looked fab. I bought a two night Groupon Deal for Loughrea Hotel and Spa which included 2 x €20 spa credit for use on a treatment over 50 minutes. I was planning to book a Couples Relaxation package (costing €190). Upon checking in I was told to ring the spa immediately to book, which I did, only to be told there were no therapist appointments available for any of the next four days. This being January and a quiet time for the hotel seemed very unusual. I'm not sure if there wasn't enough staff rostered on or if they had oversold their groupon deals. We were put on a cancellation list but nothing came of it. On the second day we asked again and were told by the spa receptionist they had room for a mud treatment costing €80 for both of us in the same room (which is self applied and does not involve a therapist) but that the manager would only accept one of the 20 euro credits. There was literally no reason they would have accepted only one of the credits other than meanness as we would have been in the room together and taking up no more space than a single person. We said no and finally on the last day we asked could we just swap the credits for passes to the thermal suite (Jacuzzi/relaxation beds) which was worth 5 euro less than the credit. They said no, they are for therapist treatments only (which they still had no space for). After we offered to then pay for the passes we were told they only had space in the next hour and nothing for the rest of the day. The customer service and running of the spa was shockingly bad. The receptionist told us the spa tends to book out weeks in advance and that they even had weekends in March (two months away) already booked out. This is not made clear on the hotel website or on Groupon, other than one mention to book in advance. I thought four days would be enough notice but apparently not. The spa is open to the public also and no preference appears to be made for hotel guests, despite the spa being advertised as belonging to the hotel. Absolutely nothing was offered as recourse for the wasted €40 value and all we were told was we should have booked earlier. In the end we cancelled our plans to stay an extra night and headed home."
