"What a wonderful surprise in Kilkenny! I needed a hotel for a group and wanted to try something different. The staff warned me that there were stairs, but that really wasn't a deterrent. Our day was horrible as flights were delayed for hours, luggage never arrived and all of the group's plans were ruined. We arrived starving after 9:30pm fully expecting the kitchen to be closed - but we were happy to get sandwiches. However, a chef had stayed and the entire group was able to get a proper dinner! And the hotel did all they could to make our stay a pleasant one. The rooms were perfect - you could play hurling in my bathroom it was so huge! Bed was very comfortable and more than adequate for our needs. But I especially loved the "old charm" of the 250 year old building. They said it was haunted and, given the age, I wouldn't be surprised, but I didn't notice anything unusual! Narrow hallways, lots of stained glass, up and down stairs, and a fabulous bar just gave the place so much character. If you're looking for modern chrome and glass, this is not your place, but if you love warmth, character, and a sense of age and history, I would highly recommend the Club House Hotel. Situated right on the main street in Kilkenny, there is parking in the back with access through the bar. It's not for everyone, but I loved it and would return in a minute!"
"We had a confirmation here recently and have to say the staff and food was amazing. Iv a big family with alot of kids and they couldn't of been anymore nicer or patient with the kids . While all staff was so nice i really feel our day went even better because one of there head waitress Caroline Brett she honestly couldn't do enough for us and such a lovely person no matter how busy she was she always had a smile , really want to thank you Caroline and all staff in club house ."
"Myself and my partner stayed here for 3 nights as a gift from family for Christmas. First time in Kilkenny, this hotel was everything we needed for our stay. All of the staff were super friendly, accommodating and nothing was a bother. The hotel was super clean and although it was fully booked it didn't feel as though it was. Food in the restaurant was very nice. We are both vegan and find it quite difficult in some places but there were plenty of options and it was all very tasty. Special shout out to Brendan on reception for recommending some amazing vegan restaurants and also making sure the breakfast staff had our almond milk ready each morning. Special mention to Dee at breakfast too for the great breakfast service! We really appreciated it and felt very looked after! So thank you :) Would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Kilkenny and wants a cosy, friendly base for exploring the beautiful city!"
"Words fail me with the club house. Where do I start? The physical building is full of period character and whilst there is a lot of stairs it is so beautiful and well kept it is worth a visit just to look. The rooms are again very well presented and while the bed was a little soft for us I won’t mark them down. The staff are, without doubt, all an asset to the hotel. From the reception staff to the bar and waiting staff and the chef and kitchen team. All utterly professional, nothing was too much trouble and really made our stay. Oh and the chef, what a chef! While the food isn’t overly posh it is finished to the highest of standards with everything (apart from the profiteroles and the ice cream) being made by the chef from scratch. The food would raise it to 6 or even 10 stars if I could. To sum up the hotel is a real gem of the city. The hospitality is second to none. Give it a try."
"Went there during a week day so the place wasn't crowded at all, and i love It. The location is super central, close to everything and everywhere. The hotel is super clean and the room I stayed in as well. The staff at the reception and the bar were very kind, polite and helpful. The dinner was excellent, big portion and so good. Highly recommended."
