"Lovely meal. Friendly welcoming staff. Reasonably priced. Very clean. Local beers. Had a pint of Whitefied "Blonde" lager. Tasty. Will visit again."
"I meant to post this a while ago when I stayed but this is an exceptional hotel. What great value, Elemis products (which is a massive plus!) the breakfast is decent and what you need. Honestly I would recommend this place heartedly. A great place to stay and thank you!"
"Went for family afternoon tea. When I asked could the 6 year old in our party have a plate of chips I was informed by both the barman and manager (Caroline Egan) that chips were not allowed in this particular area. Ms Egan would not accommodate our request and I was told in no uncertain terms that if the child wanted some chips they can go out and eat in the bar. In order to feed the child, the party had to split up. If I could give zero stars I would. And the afternoon tea sandwiches were stale. Ignorance of the highest order. Will not be returning despite being from the locality."
"We had a very enjoyable stay at the H&J. The bed was comfortable and the room was the perfect temperature. The bed linen could be replaced with newer ones, but what we had was clean and cosy. Had a very tasty dinner in the Silk restaurant and the waiters were very friendly. Food was served quickly. The starters and deserts were amazing. Unfortunately my medium steak came out almost well done with a side of undercooked mushrooms. The risotto lacked some parmesan cheese and included some of the undercooked mushrooms. The pool was great and relaxing in the jacuzzi was a gid sent. Unfortunately there were loose tiles in the steam room, and in the dressing room the paint is coming off the ceiling, lockers can't lock, and we were not offered robes or shoes to use around the pool. Around the pool area there are also no hooks at all to hang your towel. Nonetheless we had a good stay and the price was fair. I am sure we will visit again if passing through that area of the country."
"Had a one night stay here recently, one night was definitely enough. Firstly I have to say the staff were very very friendly and the food was very good. But the reception area and the bar could really do with some sprousing up. The bedroom we stayed in was, in my opinion shocking for the price we were charged. Every piece of furniture had lumps taken out of them. The quilt on the bed and the chair in the room were disgustingly grubby, to the extent that I was afraid to sit on them. I have never ever stayed in a hotel that only had a blind on the window, no curtains? It might not have been so bad if it wasn't a bright red blind. The bath was cracked and the bathroom in general was in need of some attention. I would not stay here again, but would visit again for the food, which couldn't be faulted."
