"Ok, so. One star rating is harsh, I know this, but I'm basing this on my most recent visit (which is not the first time the exact same thing has happened). I've used this dental clinic for years, and to be fair I've been happy with the service in general. Even after moving up the country I'd still drive the 2 hours down for an appointment. I made my last appointment about 5 or 6 weeks ago telling them I needed a filling (I knew this from my last visit) after checking in, the dentist said I was only there for a checkup and refused to acknowledge I was there for a filling. I said I was after driving down and was just told I'd have to come again. Absolutely no apology or even an excuse made as to why they wouldn't give me a filling. they gave me a check up which I didn't need, want or book but they had no problem charging for it without going through PRSI. This had happened once to often at this stage and with a 4 hour round trip I'm just a bit sick of this now. Even though the service (when I got it) was good, I can't depend on it. Unfortunately it's time to look for another place."

"*update* After following up at Shields, I learned one of the other teeth this dentist recommended pulling could be saved with a root canal treatment. I was also told it was unlikely that the tooth which was pulled was referring pain back to the one that was hurting. All that trauma for nothing! I urge you go anywhere but here. I had a compassionate and competent experience elsewhere. Went in for a tooth ache. Dentist pulled a different tooth without enough anesthesia and didn’t heed me when I tried to tell her I wasn’t “feeling pressure” I was in absolute, acute pain. All the shaking and tears weren’t enough indication for her to use additional anesthesia before proceeding. Did not discuss after care with me. Good thing that I looked it up online when I came home because I might’ve gotten dry socket otherwise. Gave me a prescription for weak pain relievers and shoved me out of the office a shaking sobbing mess. Not even so much as asking if I was alright. The tooth I went in about is still hurting, but now I also have a gaping open wound where a tooth was pulled that is also painful. Took me hours at home to stop shaking and crying. Could not sleep last night because of the pain I was in. Haven’t been able to eat. Called today for something stronger to relieve pain and was told they could write a prescription for antibiotics and that was it. Im already on antibiotics. I’m stunned. I’m in enormous pain. I have two children I’m struggling to look after because I can’t function like this. I don’t know what to do and have no one else to call because I’m from the U.S. and have only lived here a month. I will never go back here and I will warn absolutely everyone I meet about the place."
