"I came from PTSB and have since closed all my old bank accounts. I now exclusively use Mitchelstown credit union. Since I like online payments I use Revolut for all my online and card purchases. This means I literally pay no fees for any of my banking needs. In the morning I transfer money to Revolut and by 11.45 it is transferred into my Revolut account. Same day transfers is honestly amazing. I use their online site and the app for banking. It's so much more intuitive to use than main banks!! I sign in with my username and password, I then use a one time passcode from either the app or a SMS. Any transactions need a password and an OTP so it is all safe. I love that I can select a date range on an account and quickly print out a statement that is official with the Credit Unions details at the top (unlike PTSB who only give a spreadsheet ugh). They have a card machine which allows you to use a card to transfer money, for example when leaving PTSB I just did a card transaction to put the money into my account. Today I had some cheques to put in and they had them cleared in my account within an hour. The staff are so incredibly friendly in there and get to know you by name. They will help you with anything you need. Amazingly I called them but it was during lunch, I didn't leave a voicemail as I was just going to call back. As soon as she got back she called me! I mean that never happens with pretty much any business these days! One thing I seriously appreciate is that they take Covid seriously. My partner has stage 4 cancer and is on chemo which wrecks his immune system. Going anywhere is worrying because even the common cold could mean months in hospital. MCU have temperature checks at the door, sanitiser everywhere. When you use the card machine they will wipe it all down with cleaning wipes. I cannot express how much I appreciate this. They are doing a wonderful job! Better than anywhere I have been to!"
