Reviews
"As stated by others, the castle is inaccessible as it's in ruins but you can still get some good photos. The rest of the grounds has a nice walk and it looks like someone is working on the stately house."
"The castle is ruined, but there is a white deer park and playground which children will definitely enjoy. There is also an old mansion House. Also there are walking trails next to the river which is very good. The timings are different in summer and winter. Check before planning. No entry tickets."
"Lovely castle, falling apart. It is blocked off around the back. It is surrounded by a lovely park and another large building and a cool dragon chair ! Perfect place for a picnic !"
"This is a lovely building . A lovely place to walk the dogs and even bring a picnic. The OPW are working on these magnificent buildings. They are working on the beautiful walkway by the river . In right in the middle of the town"
"Actual castle ruin is inaccessible but free to go through grounds of stately house. Also brand new childrens play area with free parking is attached. From here you can cycle , jog, walk along loop trails by the river Blackwater and might see the white deer on hillside above."
