"As a child, nearly 60 years ago, no visit to Youghal or elsewhere in East Cork was complete without a stop at McCarthy's for an ice cream on our way back to Cork. It was a treat then and is still a treat now. One of my saddest memories was when my father was stopped for speeding a few miles over the limit as we entered Midleton, and we had to go without our ice cream as he blamed our bickering for distracting him."
