"Dropped in old graphics card without fans and asked to have it tested to see if it still worked. I was intending to purchase an aftermarket fan kit online that's custom for the card as it's a relatively easy fix. At a cost of 25 euro online for the kit (the card is worth about 400 new) it would of been worth fixing it myself. All I needed was somebody to test the card to see if it worked and if it was just the fans that were at fault. So, that's what I asked the lady I spoke to to do. She checked with a man sitting at the desk and he confirmed that would be fine. A few days later I got a call from a different young guy. He said there was a problem that could be fixed and I said if it was necessary that I'd be ok with that. The first price quoted was over 70. A day or 2 later I received a call from the lady again. She sent me a picture of the fix that they would do with a new quote of 60+. When I saw that all they were doing was attaching two cheap fans I asked them not to go ahead with the fix and asked if I owed them anything for having a look. They said no charge. (I did this in a WhatsApp group message so the timeline is clear) I'd go back to my original plan and buy the after market kit for a mere 25. I told them I'd call to take back the card in a day or 2. The following day I received another message, this time by standard sms and I assume it came from somebody else. A 3rd person. This message stated my card was fixed and the price would be 40+.So far 3 different people and 3 different prices. I informed them of my previous correspondence and that I'd asked to have the card returned minus the fan repair. They tried to tell me I was wrong but luckily the WhatsApp message was proof. I'm not somebody who likes confrontations or would intentionally try to do somebody out of money and because they had spent time on the card (even though I'd asked them not to) I offered to cover the cost of the fans. At this point I got a final quote of 30. The fans cost approx 5 euro a piece online (I looked them up since) so it was about 20 euro too much still (imagine if I'd paid 70) but I accepted because I didn't want to face into an awkward situation to get my card back. The following day I went in to collect the card. At this point I met another person. Possibly the owner? He then tried to make me pay the original asking price. I told him about the final price but he maintained I was wrong. He then had me explain the whole situation to him and stood staring at his phone in silence. I was there for 20 minutes and was made to feel like I was in the wrong or trying to con him. Thankfully I had the proof in the WhatsApp message so he had no choice but to concede and give me the card. He also informed me that they hadn't actually tested the card at all so for all I knew they had just stuck two cheap fans onto a still broken card and overcharged me for the privilege. Guess what, that's exactly what they did. They zip tied the fans directly onto the heatsink and soldered the fan connections directly to the board (instead of using the fan slot provided) So now I can't even remove the fans to try reflowing the card without breaking the solder. Pure cowboy stuff and not what I'd expect from them. Should really only give one star but giving 3 stars because the young lad was friendly and helpful on previous occasions. Had I not been made to feel like I was guilty of something I would have left no review and just gone on with my life. Poor communication amongst staff, vastly overcharging for a job I didn't request and a bad customer experience means I won't be returning. If you don't know much about computers be careful going in here that you don't get overcharged."
