"This tour was the highlight of my trip to Ireland. It was, by far, the best way to experience Killarney National Park. The tour included a gentle 2-hour motorboat tour of the three lakes in the park along with the connecting rivers. Along the way our knowledgeable guide shared insights into the history of the park and the local ecology. This portion of the day covered a lot of terrain and allowed us to view and experience large sections of the park within a short time. We were also able to access hard to reach areas, including an abandoned abbey on one of the lake islands. At the end of the boat ride is the Gap of Dunloe segment, which can be traversed on foot, bicycle or via horse carriage. We took the carriage and were grateful we chose that option. With a 1000 foot vertical climb, the hike would have been exhausting. The carriage ride let us take in the pristine mountain scenery which included 3,000 foot majestic peaks, waterfall cascades, verdant green valleys and pristine mountain lakes and ponds. The views were breathtaking. Make sure to bring cash to cover the carriage as it is paid separately from the boat tour. At the time of my tour (summer 2022) the carriage cost was 25 Euros per person...well worth it. There are two stops during the day where you can purchase food at remote lodge cafes...cash comes in handy here as well as credit cards were not accepted and one of the stops. Book this tour. It is fantastic! This tour is suitable for all ages and most ability levels. There is a very small amount of walking over uneven terrain. Make sure your camera has a full battery as you will want to take many photos along the way."
"A group of friends and I did a boat tour on the lakes with killarney day tours.... our tour guide Rory made the trip so enjoyable, with lovely stories about the different sites.. our guide was so friendly and made the tour really fun for us all. The lakes are so beautiful, would definitely recommend killarney day tours!"
"I signed up for the Gap of Dunloe tour and it was great. There’s plenty of time to walk through the Gap and take in the views followed by an amazing boat tour. It was great to see parts of the national park that I wouldn’t have gotten a chance to without and learn all about the flora and fauna of the area from our guide"
"A fantastic tour on the lakes with Rory, he had excellent knowledge of the whole area and insight into the local history of the area. Also took us on a great trek up to the eagles nest with fantastic views. Highly recommend this."
"Amazing experience, Rory had exceptional knowledge to the lakes and mountains which has been passed down to him through generations of his family providing boat trips on the lakes. The views were stunning and Rory was the perfect guide. Would highly recommend."
