"When We arrived , we ordered dinner and it was very overpriced for what we got . The food wasn’t great ! And after our dinner we were asked to pay for the room before we even saw the room . It was very cramped, and basic, the wardrobe in our room was uneven and wobbly! The window was so height up you had to literally stand on the bed to open it . The bathroom only had a tiny small bottle of shampoo and there was 3 of us in the room . There was no milk or coffee, in the room, the cups were dirty! We had to check out at 11. We had asked a member of staff what time was check out and they hadn’t a clue. Only I had to ring the following morning to enquire our check out time The place is very dreary and old fashioned and very overpriced . The best part of it was when we were leaving. I definitely will not be going back there and certainly wouldn’t recommend it."
"Nice bar/restaurant. Staff keep changing and only communicate with friends and locals, not so much with visitors. They do breakfast, lunch (Main course) and evening meals. If you expect to go in and have a friendly pint, do not expect the staff to engage with you. Can be a lonely place for a man who lives alone."
"Stopped off here on our way home from Cork on Wednesday evening January 11th . I have to say that the young staff that were on were just fantastic, chatty and helpful . Christmas decor was still in bloom which lifted the dreary weather outside. Great fire going in the stove too. Really enjoyed our meal too."
"Their is something very old fashioned about this place and not in a good way. The rooms were small and cramped if you were sharing and not cheap. The menu was priced as if in a decent restaurant which it isn't. €27.95 for a Steak, €10.50 for Chouder, €15 for roast of the day. Whatever about the rooms which they probably can't do much with, they should gut the bar and restaurant and give it a modern new look. After eating, there was no desire from any of us to stay and have a few drinks so all that money was spent elsewhere. The breakfast the following morning was big but mostly overcooked or burnt except for the eggs. The lady who served us, probably the owner, was cranky and slow. She probably cooked the breakfast but clearly doesn't like her job much anymore. I was hungry so I ate most of it but it wasn't good. The chips with the roast of the day were the same. If staying in Skibbereen again, I wouldn't stay here."
"Recently 6 of us stayed in Annie Mays for 3 nights. Rooms were very clean and well presented, not the biggest of rooms but definitely not the smallest. I have stayed in B&B's that had smaller rooms. Staff were excellent and very friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and we had dinner there one night. There was mixed reviews between us on the dinner. I had the chowder and this was excellent others said their dinner was average. Overall a very nice stay and excellent location."
